I am the wrong sex to be the person they ask for.
Also the person they want has spoken to them a few times and told them to stop calling but still they call.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I received a call from 01407 9999999 at 9am today. Does anyone know this number?
It is clearly a false number as it starts with 999 and there are a total of 12 digits (the UK maximum is 11 digits).0 -
hi there i have had a missed call from this number 08716236434 on my mobile this morning, i have looked on http://whocallsme.com/ but its not listed, can anyone shed any light on this number, many thanks0

The number provider is Freedom Telecom but I have no ideas who they provided the number to.
Don't call this 0871 number as it will cost 10p/min. It may well just be a scam to get you to call the number and wait in a queue!0 -

Yes, of course, Heinz, you are right!
The point I should have made was is that 0871 is a revenue generating number for the person/company who has that number.
Incidentally, I have a premium rate bar on my Talk Talk line and it will not allow me to call 0871 numbers!0 -
Why should it be false because it starts 999?
A valid number; - 0500 999100. For Autonational Rescue, sister company to Autoaid.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
If you lived in Holyhead, which I believe the area code is for, you wouldn't dial the area code from a landline. It must be false.
I don't disbelieve that,(but you would dial it from a mobile), but why did you not quote me completely? I gave a valid number beginning 999 and that was the only point I queried in the OP!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
