If your line rental is paid to BT they'll help but if it's with TT you need to contact them I believe!0

Thats the exact no that keeps pestering me, countless missed calls and I have actually answered twice and the caller just hangs up. I'm also with Talk Talk so very interested in any replies. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I keep getting calls from 0121 273 3761, a rather dodgy Brum based company, from what I've read.
I'm with Talk Talk so don't know if I can use the BT number to block calls from them. Does anyone know how to go about this through Talk Talk? BT supplies my line, Talk Talk does everything else.
It'll cost you a £3.35 monthly fee but it may be worth it.
Also see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=586825Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
On TalkTalk "Last Caller Barring" costs £3.18 per month, their name for Choose To Refuse.
That is if you made the wrong decision and line rental is now with Talk Talk and not BT.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
BT are the largest telecoms provider and they don't offer any facilities at all to block incoming international numbers, so its very unlikely any other provider will do this0
-
Hi, hope i can be helpful
Choose to refuse can block a number if it is 'withheld' as the exchange knows which number is calling you (as it originates within the UK , and the service knows to hold that number back. But it will not be able to pick up an international number as it does not originate within the UK network.
BT customer can choose a service called Anonymous Caller Rejection, (ACR),(for a monthly rental), but this service cannot stop the international number from calling in, as it has to identify the permanent number withheld marker to be able to stop the number ringing through to you.
If your aunt does want to have this ACR service, then anyone who is withheld who wants to phone her can prefix her number with 1470 when dialling, and they will release their own number onto the 1471 service for that one call.
Unfortunately, it does sound like the only way to stop these calls quickly is to have a change of number.

Its not possible for BT to block international numbers because the calls originate outside the UK.

There's no reason why they can't as long as they have the CLID. Which in most cases they do, even if the caller withholds their number, the number is still sent, it's only at the destination (your phone) that it becomes hidden.
BT are a pain though as they mask many calls from overseas as just 'International' even though the number is indeed being transmitted. It's just BT use the excuse they can't trust if the number is correct.
If the same caller calls my VoIP phone service (which I have set-up so it looks and feels like a standard line, using an ATA and regular phones and DECT phones) I get to see their number, whether they are calling from their landline in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Australia, USA or most other countries who transmit CLID, or their mobile or their VoIP service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... VOIP calls are different to landline calls. An international call can route through two or more contries before finally reaching UK. (and sometimes even satellite if its an offshore call). The originating number can be lost as it goes through several different countries/networks on its way to you. Thats why its not possible to block specific international numbers from ringing in.
VOIP has the benefit of being run by software that has to be compatible with all systems - which means it retains the ID/service number of the originator.
