I saw that the site had gone down yesterday and am now worried about my purchase too. I ordered two childrens beds on the 27th of August, with a delivery time of two to three weeks, so am nearly into the second week and would have thought someone would have been in touch to arrange delivery by now. I paid on my mastercard so fingers crossed will get my money back, I will be contacting my card issuer tomorrow after reading all this!

I've also been trying to call with furniture deal, the line is either engaged or just rings and rings and rings. My emails have gone unanswered, although early days yet...still am not holding my breath!

In the meantime I have my kids looking forward to their new beds to go in their newly decorated room - so they're let down too. I will be buying their beds from a physical shop once I've got my money back.
  • If the Company is in breach of contract by not delivering on time and the credit card company has refunded you, should the item then be delivered you can refuse to accept it. In this case do not sign anything and it should be returned to them.

If you really want the goods, unpack and examine them before signing. There is probably a manufacturers guarantee anyway if there is any damage (Check this out asap). I personally would write damaged on delivery even if they appeared OK as you never know ..... and if the credit card company has or is about to refund you make sure you tell them asap if you do keep the goods.

If you paid by Debit card and you know it is going to be impossible to be refunded, you may want to sign for the goods writing on the delivery note the goods are damaged - even if they are not! That way, if they are and there is a manufacturers warranty it should get sorted by them. If they are not damaged you will have to decide if you are going to keep them or resell.
  • Just looked on the furniture deals website today and there is now a message confirming they have gone into liquidation!!
  • Hi all,

Just spoke to customer advice, they are taking the case to Trading Standards to investigate.

They told me that even though we paid by debit card, as long as the goods have not been delivered we can claim back using the CHARGEBACK SCHEME.

Speak to your bank, I think it might be better not to mention they have gone into liqidation,

If your bank are playing silly !!!!!!s and refusing, then you need to go to the ombudsman (excuse the spelling) as they have to refund as THE GOODS WERE PAID FOR BUT NOT RECIEVED.

    Consumer advice :- 08454 04 05 06
    Omudsman tel :- 0845 080 1800

Hope this helps, stay positive guys and gals :)

  • I tried ringing their number today and I GOT THROUGH!! I asked if it was furniture deals and he said he was the furniture group. However he did admit the company had gone into liquidation and said all of their goods had been seized. He said contact my card provider and also that apparantly the liquidators would be getting in touch with all people who have paid for orders, he also said the liquidators may still deliver goods but I dont know how likely this is to happen!
  • Its Companies like furniture deals that give other companies a serious problem, i have been following this thread as i work for a furniture website company and over the last week sales have plummeted now it could be because the kids have gone back to school but it could also be because of companies like furniture deals and customers losing there faith in on-line businesses. I have also taken a lot of calls from present customers worried about there rights if there order is not fulfilled. I wish all of you on this thread the best of luck in getting your money back but please do not lose your confidence in the rest of us otherwise there will be a lot of honest hard working businesses going to the wall.

My advice for shopping for furniture on line is if you can pop along to the showroom and meet the staff and see the goods, and don't be sucked in by the cheap prices most furniture retailers source there furniture from the same suppliers so prices should be on par from site to site if somebody is selling far cheaper there is normally a hidden cost or they making a loss which in my mind means they are in trouble and trying to bring in a bit of money and quickly
  • HELP!
Their website is not available any longer; below notice has been placed on their site for unlucky shoppers like me!
I have sent them an email with regard to my bali ottoman leather bed, which I ordered on the 27th of July. When I contacted them about the delivery time, I was told that it would take upto 6 weeks. I havent heard anything from them since then and sent them an email today. But I know they wont bother to answer me straight back, but play a delay-game...
I made the payment via A&L visa debit card. I am wondering how I can get my money back from my bank. Anyone to advise me on this?
(MY ONLY ADVICE TO MYSELF NOW, IF IT IS THE CHEAPEST,THEN IT REALLY IS!)
    Thank you all

  • I have just been informed that Furniture Deals also operate from a Shop on the Blackburn Road in Leicestershire, I will try and find out more information and let you know
  • I have waited in all day today for my bed to arrive.

I ordered in on 29 July and when I had not heard anything by 2 September ( there was a 2-4 week delivery ) I emailed them.

They said the delivery was scheduled between 9 and 5 today, 8 Sept.

I emailed back asking if the driver would call me on the day to give me a better idea of what time they woudl arrive.

the email back (which started 'dear customer' even though I had put my name on all correspondence) said 'the delivey will be made between 9 and 5'

I have tried ringing them but the number on the invoice is not working (says out of service or something), the same for another number I found online. I got yet another number through Yell.com but nobody is picking up on that one.

Thankfully I paid on my credit card but I am still stuck without a bed - my mattress arrived (from M&S) 2 weeks ago!

I feel really stupid for ordering something from what is clearly a scamming company.

Does anyone have a phone number for their customer services?:mad::mad:
  • Does anybody know if there is a link between the following companies Furniture Deal Co Uk Ltd and Home Furnishing Ltd which are now trading as hfcontainers.com?
