  • I ordered a chest of drawers from furniture deal on 8 August, noting 5/10 days delivery. After three weeks rang and item delivered as promised on 28 August. Unfortunately item damaged beyond repair in transit. (Only noticed when unpacking). Contacted company by e mail and recd instant reply asking for picture which was sent same day.
Since then no response, cannot contact via by telephone or e mail and noe note that website temporarily unavailable.
Has this company gone into administration?
Have seen another company furniture net offering similar products and pricing, does anyone know if they are one and the same.
Have contacted credit card company and hopefully we can move on

I checked on the website for any contact details for the Furniture Deal based at 39 Lisle St Loughborough. The contact number led me to the company which leased out the warehouse to Furniture Deal. They said Furniture Deal disappeared about a week ago also owing them money but have no contact numbers apart from two names of Patel and Mike.

Claireyvonne, sorry I only have a reference no. from the person who I spoke to at Consmuers Direct (Trading Standards). The ref. no. is NW647063.

Do you have a tel no for above

arsenal1111, do you have a URL for this other web site? I'll do some digging if you can let me have it.
  • Hi all,

Following on from my last post (on page 2 of this thread), someone I know paid a visit to the Loughborough address today and found that furnituredeal are indeed located at this address.

A number of people were working at this address and the chap spoken to said that he didn't know anything about the business and that he was sent there just this morning to work as a liquidator and sell off the stock that they had.

For a person who didn't know anything about the business (we suspect he was actually the owner) he then went onto spin out the following story:

-The Loughborough location was completely separate to the web business (despite the furnituredeal.co.uk signs!) and the web business was liquidated over the weekend.
-He couldn't help with regard to any refunds etc
-He refused to give any details of the liquidator company he was working for - which of course if he was genuine shouldn't be any problem.
-He suggested we visit the main company address (the Belgrave Gate one) where all my queries would be answered - an address which members of this thread have advised is nothing to do with furnituredeal.
He refused to have his picture taken (turned his back), saying that is against the law.

Oh and get this, the address is still trading! He even had the cheek to say that if we brought a sofa of him (there was plenty of stock there) it would be delivered the following week!

Needless to say all this info is on it’s way onto trading standards.

Feel free to pay this Loughborough site a visit and take some direct action in your claims!

The company who said they leased out the warehouse to Furniture Deal can be contacted on 01509 218 786.

A company called Display Deal based in Derbyshire have the same Company Reg. No. and VAT Reg No. as Furniture Deal. Not sure if they are the same company. But their website is up and running.

It's pretty safe to say that it is the same company. For a start they're using the same 'shaking hands' logo on the site.

    displaydeal[dot]co[dot]uk

Plus, a WHOIS lookup of that domain returns the following information:

    Domain name:
    displaydeal[dot]co[dot]uk

    Registrant:
    Furniture Deal Co UK Ltd

    Registrant type:
UK Limited Company, (Company number: 6352628)

    Registrant's address:
    Furniture Deal
    39 lisle street
    Loughborough
    LEICESTERSHIRE
    LE11 1AW
    United Kingdom

    Registrar:
    GX Networks Ltd t/a 123-Reg.co.uk [Tag = 123-REG]

    No doubts there then!

(Unfortunately, 'cause i'm a newish user, the forum won't let me post utl links so i've had to replace periods with [dot] i nthe urls)
  • Logo wise, they are pretty much identical.

This leads me to three conclusions, 1, they are one in the same, 2, they are trading using that companies details, 3, The who is search database gives the following information for both sites and makes it definately to be the same company.

    Registrant's address:
    Furniture Deal
    39 lisle street
    Loughborough
    LEICESTERSHIRE
    LE11 1AW
    United Kingdom

Stay clear of displaydeal - I'll be forwarding this information onto consumer direct as well.
  • Be careful if you have paid even on Visa! My money has ben returned through Visa but apparently if the company send out the goods they can re claim the money from my account. This is worrying as the goods could then arrive damaged or poor quality and a refund would then be impossible. Anyone who has paid on Visa should hope that this company is bankrupt! Even my bank said this! I don't want anything to arrive now! I am boarding up my front door! Why has'nt this been on Watchdog yet! Too many people losing money...it's not right!

I have used the contact us on displaydeal.co.uk and sent them the following enquiry.

    Hi Furnituredealuk.net and furnituredeal.co.uk and displaydeal.co.uk

Which name do we go by? So question is, what is happening with my order placed with furnituredealuk.net on the 29th of August? Now, your trading as displaydeal.co.uk which remains online, how come this is not being put into liquidity in the same way that furnituredealuk.net has? If furnituredealuk.net is being wound up so should displaydeal.co.uk - seen as your using the same company number and vat registration number. You are aware that you have a serious amount of disgruntled customers that are fully aware of this scam & have reported this to the appropriate authorities. If you have any credibility, can you update the website furnituredealuk.net and furnituredeal.co.uk to indicate that you have went into liquidation and who has been appointed with the corresponding contact information.

I look forward to your response or lack of response, as I will be forwarding all contact with yourself to the appropriate authorities.
  • Thankyou to everyone who has posted stuff on this company. My mom (who used this company) can not get a refund as she paid on a maestro card so i am going to take this as far as i can other ways.
first thing tomorrow i am going to contact trading standards, Watchdog, the consumer advice helpline and anybody else who will listen (believe me im loud lol) I urge anyone else to do the same.
Will post any news I have as soon as I have it.
