Just managed to cancel my contract with ease over the phone, dialed 333, explained my situation and was put straight through to the cancellation department. Here they tried telling me that as I took out my contract BEFORE October 2007 I would be eligible for an early termination charge, basically told them this was rubbish and quoted their own T&C's to them, after a little while of trying to get me to stay he said I could cancel with no charge and is sending out my PAC code to me immediately!
Thanks for the help on this forum! Am now out of an 18month contract and free to look for a better deal
Can I ask what type of account you had with them - was it a mix&match ?I'd like to teach the World to sing in perfect Harmony:j

There are a few sim only deals if you are happy with your current phone. Orange have a £10 a month deal and both 02 and Vodaphone ave really good but slightly more expensive deals. They are all 30 day notice.0 -

Dear Mr Flyer
We’re sorry to hear that you’ve decided to cancel your contract due to the changes being made on the contract.
I appreciate that you’re writing to inform us about the problems with your contract and I can understand how frustrating this must have been for you.
Just to let you know that your contract is for 18 months and the end date is 18 May 2009. As promised we’ve taken note of your cancellation request for the contract to end on 22 September 2008.
You’ll receive a final bill just after we’ve closed your account. This will include line rental up until the 21 September, as well as any usage outside your allowances for this period. I’d request you to cancel the direct debit from your bank once the final payment is attempted.
If there’s anything else we can help you with, just call us free on 333 straight from any 3 phone. Otherwise you can reach us on 08707 330 333 (national rate) – we’ll be happy to help.
I hope I’ve managed to explain everything clearly about the cancellation of your account.

How long did it take for you to receive a reply? I sent a letter of last Wednesday, and was just wondering how long I should be waiting.0 -
Hi this is my first post so go easy on me!
I rang Three this morning to cancel thanks to the help on this site, however the first time I rang the lovely CS operative started saying he could not hear me when I said I was cancelling, then he hung up. So enraged I called back, after another 15 mins on hold, the next CS operative says that all of the other mobile operators are doing the same so this is not a detrimental change and then says "I have also checked your account we have not sent you a letter". Given I have the hard copy of the letter (unfortunately at home) I am going to have to post it. Thankfully I took the person's name that called me a liar. He reckons he is going to call me back but I hold no hope whatsoever that he will. Anyone else had anything similar?0 -

It seems that they are all playing games, I was told it wouldnt apply to me, yet others on the same contract have been released! I taped the call as I was on my mobile it was easy.0 -
I have just recieved the letter saying they are changing my terms - I was on the 75min 600 text tarriff which was due to expire in september - BUT i upgraded in May to a new tarriff of 150mins 700texts 25video mins £5 dowloads for a discounted £18 per month - the contract although running from may runs for 18months starting in sept - Now because i have just got this letter does it mean that I can now cancel my new contract? and how do i go about it?
I think the contract im on is the direct text 1400 but I have only just upgraded to it a few months ago - I have had the letter can I cancel?0
