yeah, i just had a look at my itemised bill, and i already get rounded up to the first minute. i might email the exec's office now, because they're letting some people cancel on the grounds of itemised billing, but not all...

No, I've not seen anyone post to say that they've cancelled due to the itemised billing charge. Saying that I've still sent them an e-mail & a letter. It's worth a try!

They are going to increase the non-direct debit billing charge by 33% too (£3 to £4)

So if your bank mysteriously cancels your direct debit mandate, you'll automatically switch over. They will charge you £3 this month, but then the increase will "likely be to your detriment" as per Section 10.1d

    ;)

Been reading this thread last few days.
Phoned up today asked to be put through to cancellation dept, was asked why and told the guy that the t & c had been altered and i want to cancel. After he checked my account details he said that he could only put me through if I give him my credit card details to process the remaining 7 months charges! I said that three have introduced a change which is of detriment to me, never mentioned the itemised billing just focused on the rounding up minute thing.
After about 5 mins holding got put thru and had the cancellation processed without anymore arguing.
All in all took about 15 mins.
Just get through the first 'wall' of threats and lies and its easy.
Dont mention the itemised billing just the minute change.
  • Finally got a response back from my request for confirmation in writing.

    Dear Mr Flyer

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve decided to cancel your contract due to the changes being made on the contract.

I appreciate that you’re writing to inform us about the problems with your contract and I can understand how frustrating this must have been for you.

Just to let you know that your contract is for 18 months and the end date is 18 May 2009. As promised we’ve taken note of your cancellation request for the contract to end on 22 September 2008.

You’ll receive a final bill just after we’ve closed your account. This will include line rental up until the 21 September, as well as any usage outside your allowances for this period. I’d request you to cancel the direct debit from your bank once the final payment is attempted.

If there’s anything else we can help you with, just call us free on 333 straight from any 3 phone. Otherwise you can reach us on 08707 330 333 (national rate) – we’ll be happy to help.

I hope I’ve managed to explain everything clearly about the cancellation of your account.

Your views and opinions are important to us. Please take two minutes to complete our short survey at http://www.three.co.uk/responsesurvey. Your feedback will help us deliver a better customer experience.

Victory! I had a call from 3 as a result of the cancellation letter I sent last week. After giving me the "hard sell" they eventually gave in processed my cancellation. They told me I would also get a confirmation letter in the post.

Hi everyone, just had the letter through a few days ago informing me of the changes. Haven't read all the thread, but is the concensus now that it is possible to get out of the contract early?
