David88: Its unusual for Orange not to be charging for some service; I know you dont want to be specific, but is to do with WAP.
The back dating will depend on what the service your getting for free is; but honestly on PAYG it will be difficult to backdate it; and generally they cant take more money from your account than you have got.
I know this counds a little general, but its because I dont know enough specifics... but hey, if its free.. use it..0 -
Thanks for the answer eco21,
Its not to do with WAP.
If its unlikely that they will backdate it and they can't easily take more than my credit then as you said if its free I might as well keep using it!
Also one other quick question, would being an orange PAYG customer for 2+ years (albeit with a fairly low spend) give me any baragining power if I moved to contract, i.e. would I be able to get a better deal than normal?
Thanks a lot0 -
eco21...you are providing a wonderful service! My problem is that I bought 2 of the same phones on the same day last christmas..one for me and one for my daughter. We have low spends and only really use the phones for texting. My daughter has received the invitation for 3p texts..I have not. How can I get the 3p text offer.I do not want to top up by £10.00 per month to get the zillion texts as I do not use £10 per month..any ideas?I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Canuclkehead: What type of phone does your husband have? I have a funny feeling its to do with 3G Masts taht are erected over the country.
In some parts of the country, Orange cant use communal 3G masts and rely on their on ones, but to save have twice as many masts; they are changing existing masts to allow it to be used for both 2G and 3G.
This would explain why your neighbours on Vodafone dont use the mast. Do you know of a mast near you?
I think it must be a technical issue, as the response from the email, seems to signify that it is a time dependant problem; and should be fixed in due course.. unfortunately for you and your husband, its already taken too long.
Dont know if it'd be worth it, but you could get a PAYG Sim from another network, and when you arent in signal from Orange, it could forward your call to an O2 Sim, this way you rhusband doesnt lose out on calls and potential jobs.
I know its not ideal and its hassle that you shouldnt have to deal with; but is all I can say just now.0 -
Alison_B: From my experenience and that of others I know the number is from a company outside of Orange, selling Orange products. Orange will never contact you direct on your mobile in months leading upto your contract renewal and if anyone is ringing you from Orange in the Call Centres, they should all start 07974... AFAIK
When you upgrade or change account these indivduals will stop as your name is just in a list that they keep ringing. I doubt it would eb a scam, as a 0906 number would be more profitable so think they would do that.
Maybe try and phone them, then say can you ring me at 5pm, Im interested in upgrading (bluff) then when phone say no and get your name taken off their list.
Hope it helps0 -
Grifty: Cracking tariff you have but does limit you somewhat. I know in store Customers cant change to the X-Net 1000mins; they can only take it at Point Of Purchase, meaning that an 'ordinary' customer wouldnt be able to.
However, as your tariff is ED50, you arent an 'ordinary' customer; Orange tell us to try and tempt customers off ED50 but when ever I speak to a customer with it, I say, keep it, good deal, suits you, dont change.
I think you actually may have a bit of swinging room, even though the low spend. This could equate to free texts as they do want to move customers off this tarriff.
If you like the Orange network and are happy with phone, why not upgrade, and be bit cheeky ask for credit aswell on account, sell the phone, and the money earned across the 12 months will cover the extra £10 a month your spending.
I do feel quite confident that you could get a good deal.0 -
David88:
Think just keep soing what your doing, think if you do go to mad on it, it may cost you but just keep doing it.
If upgrading to PAYG you may get some free credit, dependin on what you have topped up in last 6months, but not too much from Contract.
Still get £50 BuyBack instore, or £50 credit on some handsets online.0 -
sarahlouise210: Glad I am helping people in some way; other on the forum have helped me, so glad Im of some use.
Im trying to think which deal it is, have you had 3p for the last 6 months, or you got a text informing you of 3p texts? If your daughter got a text, then it maybe because she does text more, but you shoudl be able to apply for it.
If it is too apply for 3p texts, it is in relation to PAYG Orange Extras; where you purchase a 'pack' of texts that will allow you to get the texts for cheaper. There is nothing on Orange website that I can see, but I will look elsewhere later, if not phone 450 and speak to them.
If you can, reply to me the text that your daughter got and I will try to help you more.0 -
since Eco21 is doing a fine job, id like to thank him/her and add some payg info, 3p texts on orange are dead as a duck unless invited by orange

What you want to do is Dial 150, Option 4 and then Option 3, this will put you through to a department called Retentions, this is basically the department that deals with people threatening to leave/leaving; the people in there tend to be working for Orange fro a number of years and are pretty good.
What you want to say is you love the Orange network, and the customer services are great; but you also say that Existing Customers get the same deal as New Ones.
You'll probably know these adverts from cinema, papers etc; with the Chinese man. You want to be more quizzical, by saying well, since you treat them the same, a new customer will get 1000 X-Net Mins for £25 and a free K750i, as an existing customer am I not the same.
If one person says no, dont be disheartened, phone up later.. keep phoning, you will get through to someone on a good day that will give you what you want. They wont give you anything if you get irate at them, as they are only doing there job and cant do out with what the are allowed, i.e. how to keep etc.
They will see you as net worth; how much you are going to spend based on last years bill spend. But, remember to quote the new customer line.
Good luck, and PM me if you want me to try to see if I can do anything.
I'm on the good old Everyday 50 tariff, all the phones they give for free for upgrades are usually bulky and out of date, you have to pay for the good ones!
Do you know if there's any decent free ones about? I usually get a different answer everytime I phone, but the C550 has been the best offer I've had, though Id prefer the K750i
Thanks in advance.0
