small: Orange are doing away with TalkShare, so you may get a better deal, as they are wanting to get people off that tariff and on to Family, but I know of the 6630 deal you are saying, and too be honest, if you talk alot, then it is beneficial to you, I would get the PAC and go. Also, as soon as you give the PAC to another network that automatically will cease your contract with Orange, meaning you'll not need to give 30days notice (pretty sure its correct still)
Woby Tide: Are you certain you can jump to and from Virgin, i thought that Orange had a three month period between the number being used again. Id give CS a call, just to check you can keep the number this way; you maybe right and if so is good for others to know this aswell.
frankie1star: upgrades are split into 5 bands and unfortunately your Band 1, the lowest. If wobe_tide is correct then porting to and from Orange via Virign, maybe good for you too, as this would allow you to egt phone free and in addition get £50 credit or buyback for old phone. The thing is I think your tariff 1000 + 150 texts is a promotion one which means you cant jump direct back to that one, but can get the 1000 mins but no texts. I feel sorry for customers such as yourself, and deal direct with alot in store, who feel that they have been punished for picking a tariff that suits them.
Try the existing customers like new customers speech and even throw in a trading standards every now and then.
Good Luck0 -
Beninio88: If you contact CS on 150; there is no specific departments, but 2 then 2 billing should be abl;e to make changes to your account. You can ask to be taken off the SMS service but still amke sure you are keen to recieve info via email or post, this way keeping up to date and getting a good sleep.
I dont think you'd be able to stop getting texts at 'unconventional times' as I believe you'll just be in a long list, where you'll get texted on how far up or down the list you are.
Anything else, contact me.
Not selling anything, but Orange do a 3000 text for £20 would be suitable for your deaf friend, if he is getting a big bill, or refrains from texting due to his contract.
edit: And remember, I'll be keeping you up to date on here aswell0 -
Hello eco 21, I have a Nokia 9300 which I use mostly for email access with GPRS on a PAYG sim with a 4mb bundle. Do you know if Orange is offering Blackberry Connect for the N9300?0
-
Alf: Orange has no plans for Blackberry as yet, talk of the new P990i having some sort of Blackberry connection, but it wont be out in UK for a while, and dont know if Orange are definately doing it. But, nothing on the Nokia 9300
Is the 4mb Bundle enough for you or do you use it alot or only on certain days as you can buy an unlimited GPRS bundle for £1 each day, maybe useful if you are going away and plan to use it alot.0 -
I went to carphonewarehouse and after a time of listening to the helpful Rep I decided on the D600 on the orange Network, after doing the appropiate checks he told me that out of all the Networks only 3 would accept me, I thought this to be strange as at the moment I am with Virgin with no credit problems. I refused 3 and placed an order with Orange from there phone shop how'ever they tell me that the D600 is generic and can only be brought from certain shops and not Orange so I am left with the e500.
Firstly why was I refused from Orange or Virgin when applying in the shop?
Secondly do Orange still carry over the unused Airtime minutes.
Thirdly an open question to all am I making the right decision going with Orange. I need a phone for my new business and anticipate making cross netwoork calls day and night I would also like to use the phone abroad and use text lightly, I would appreciate any advice.
thanks in advance.Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
Never pass up an opportunity to go to the bathroom.
If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You get another chance. And finally, be really nice to your family and friends; you never know
when, You might need them to empty your bedpan.0 -
eco21, how great it is that you are prepared to assist current orange users to understand/access the minefield of terminology which to some is straightforward and to others less so, thanks a lot.
Over a year ago, I was took advantage of a promotion, £15 = 12o X n'work mins plus 30 texts ( I think it should have been £20/£25). Orange have allowed me to continue this for another year. Speaking to a mate yesterday, he pays £25 for the same package, do you think Retentions would lower his, even there is no similar promotion. His contract expires this month. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

AFAIK from stuff I've read elsewhere the 3 month rule concerns moving from Orange Contract to Orange PAYG SIM then moving back to an Orange Contract. The only limitations on the Virgin route are timing the PAC codes expiry if you want to do it as quick as possible i.e. arrange port from Orange on c.20th day of PAC period, move to Virgin on c. 27th-28th day of PAC, PAC expires on 30th day, obtain PAC from Virgin and provide to Orange move back in on 7th/8th day of new PAC
But as far as I'm concerned I'm not overly bothered with speed this time0 -
COS: Shops like Phones4U, Carphone Warehouse, Link all get Generic handsets. These come directly from the manufacturer. Orange ones, always have a little Orange logo on them, but there is more than this done to them. Orange tests and tests the phone, meaning that many dont make it onto the Orange shop, they put there on logos andf menu gifs on the phone and create/modify the menus. The reason for this, is if there is a problem, they will know of it, and they will know how to fix it. D600 will be on Orange towards the end of the month.
I know '3' have an easier credit check than the rest of the operators but if you believe that you dont have bad credit, then I believe the representative maybe doing that solely as his commision is better on '3' that week. So I would either get a check at your credit score or apply for an phone directly with the operator not the retailer.
When did you purchase the phone?
Orange do Business Tarriffs as all Operators do and they have some benefits, if you are vat registered or a sole trader, you can get a Business Tarriff - benefits from free viocemail recovery, free insurance, cheaper line rental and ability to add sharer to use your mintues.
Look on the website for details.
Hope I helped0 -
islandman: You have got a cracking deal there but I dont think they will allow your friend to take adcantage of this. They will say it was a promotion (which Im sure it was) meaning that your friend cant get it.
Was it urchased online, or over the phone, as the next best current deal would be 100mins + 100texts for £20; which doesnt beat yours but better if your friend texts more.
I would give them a ring and see there stance on it, but pretty sure they wont budge too much.
Woby_Tide: That is brilliant. Thanks for that mate; will be useful telling other customers and people on the board the same thing. Two weeks isnt that long for a bargainb for 52 weeks.0 -
Hi eco21, good to have an 'insider' onboard!
Quick question for you regarding upgrading my account if I may:
I got a Motorola V3 through e2Save, my current contract expires on 06 Dec (am paying £30/month for 200 x-net mins) and what I would like to do is change/upgrade my phone to the Sony w800i and lower my monthly charge. Are Orange doing any deals on this at the moment or are there any coming up that you know?FB :heartpuls Wiggly
