tmohammed: the c600 we got told wont be realised until december, which could mean the wrong side of december.

The company that makes SPV, HTC had delayed them slighlty as they have been lingering around on the fringe for a while.

Try phoning upgrades for a more specific date

Umer: To be safe; I would port it off accoutn A and onto account B; this way it wont look as bad as in off then on the same account. I am thinking it maybe neccessary to put it on another account, as they will be using the same student details (NUS etc) but what to is phone uo on your existing account that hasnt got a student contract on ti, and say you wish to add a student account.
What deal have you got and what are you spending on your student tarriff?

My contract has been quite complicated, as for the first 5 months I was spending around £40-50 a month (YPD 200) but had major mistakes on my account for about 3 months (was charged for my student texts) which resulted in bills between £120-160. Since my 8th month I moved it down to YP30 and have not had to pay a bill since (had a lot of credit put back on to my account since the mistakes). I think my final month I’ll be paying £12 or something.

The appealing thing about the student plan is the 1000 texts which I can’t get on any other network on a 12 month contract, and I think I’ll want around 100 mins to use. However as I already have a w800 from another contract I’m planning on selling anything I get to help pay for the line rental. The best deal at the moment seems to be a D500 +£50 airtime credit. If I do it online I’ll also get £20 cash back through an affiliate site (quidco).

As the last 3 bills have been less than £16 for my student contract I don’t think I’ll be offered anything through upgrades or retentions.

My contract ends on the 9th November. So am I best phoning now to get a PAC code and use it in 20 days time to go to Virgin? Then porting it back on to a new account later?

If I do as you suggest and phone up and ask for a student account to be added to my other account, will they give me a similar offer to buying a new phone from the website (i.e. the d500 + £50 airtime credit)?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi dear eco21,
I am on orange anytime 60 tarriff (which I had fowngraded from OVP 200 a few months back).
It was going fine but thia month after the date of my monthly bill, I expected my minutes to go up by 60 which didnt happen. I have checked on the date on which the remaining minutes were updated and it is after the bill due date.
I have tried speaking to the orange CS but they say that there might be a fault on the system!!
But I am concerned whether I would get my allowance of 60 min this month
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • I hope you understand that I am going to be as unspecific as possible in asking this question.

What is Oranges policy on mischarges?

I have a Pay as You go phone on orange and lets just say that recently I have not been getting charged for something that I believe I should be charged for. (Its fairly minor, especially given the amount I use my phone)

If Orange were to discover what is presumably a mistake can they charge me at a later date, even if a substantial amount of time has passed since the time that I should have been charged? Also if they do suddenly retrospectively charge me can they charge me more than the credit on my phone?

    Thanks a lot

  • Good morning: We have been with Orange on Pay Monthly since May 2002. Until this spring we had reception at our home/office but now it a rare event to get a network connection. My husband is selfemployed (trades) and relies on his mobile service. He contacted Orange just a few minutes ago and was told that we could not get out of our contract. I have examined the terms and conditions Section 4.4 (4.4.1,4.4.2) and my husband referred to the same during his conversation with Customer Services. Previously on 25 September we emailed Orange and actually received a response stating ' I can confirm that we are aware of the difficulties you describe and our engineeers are currently looking into this matter. I trust it will be resolved in due course'. We chose Orange in the first case because, at the time, it had the best reception. Our friends are with Vodaphone and never experience a problem...their phones in our house have a full signal! I am at the end of my tether. What should I do next?
    Thanks.

eco21, can you help me please.

I have a phone on Orange and have recently been getting a number of calls from an 0870 number. They ring and when I answer, they hang up. I got in touch with Orange and they said to register with the TPS - which I have done but the calls still continue. On the TPS website, it says they cannot deal with silent calls, which I presume you would call these ones I am getting.

A google search on this number shows up a number of threads where people are saying it is a genuine Orange re-seller, selling upgrades, where others are saying it is a scam, i.e. you phone them back to see who it is and get charged for the privilege.

What can I do to stop these calls?

    Thanks

    Hi eco21,

I'm on the long discontinued Everyday 50 tariff and am not in the middle of any ties with Orange, so can move about however I like. I'm interested in changing to the 1000 X-net off-peak minutes tariff that - although it is more expensive - sounds more beneficial to my needs. Would the extra £10 a month be something to make Orange smile and offer some other extra (like 30 texts a month free or somesuch, nothing TOO exciting)? Also, would it really be worth upgrading my phone and getting into another 12 months tie when I'm perfectly happy with my current phone?

Thanks for all the help, eco21!

    Umer:

Think you will be right, with such a low bill especially over these last three months, you ll get no change from Orange unfortunetly; so yes I agree doing what you plan on doign seems the best bet.

The D500 with £50 Credit, would result in about £170ish profit, meaning would knock around 15ish off your line rental across the year; bringing 1000texts and 120mins a months for about £10 with your flash W800i

macgyer: Are you referring to ringing 150, Option 1 to hear how many minutes you ahve left; as this service is good, but only once its not near your bill date.

You can phone 150 and speak to CS who can tell you exactly how many mins you do have left; best to do that when your sure you have no mins remaining etc, or near to it.

Yeah, you'll get your 60mins, and they will rollover up to doube if you dont use them. Double rollover mins is the maximum allowed.
