thing is, do they make many calls between themselves? as maybve able to change to the new business tarriff and by doing so may have a better bargaining edge.
I understand your brother will be busy; just with 345 you alomst get straight through, no need to dial options 1,2,3 etc
He can make others in the business as third party representatives, meaning they can phone up and try and haggle0 -
Have you had a look at the thread Orange to charge for Freephone Calls?
Do you think folks have grounds to cease their contracts early?PF.0 -
Hi eco21,
Do you have any experience of Orange allowing customers to take payment holidays?
My better half is in about month 11 of her Select 500 contract and is off travelling for 7 months at the end of Nov. Obviously no point staying on that tarriff for the 7 months as she can't use the inclusive minutes abroad, but she wants to retain the number and turn it into an Orange PAYG so that pals can still text her while she's abroad. She'll get PAYG sims in the main countries she visits to save cash calling/texting home.
When she comes back she'll go straight back to pay monthly, but will Orange let her go back to the same tarriff? She's a recent graduate and the current student deals allow people to take <12months payment holidays for working or travelling abroad, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
In theory, when she comes back she'll be due an upgrade too as her 12months will be 'up' at the end of November I think. Will be interesting to see what Orange CS says about that...
Anyway, would appreciate your comments so we have some info to hand when we call Orange CS.
Cheers,

eco21 - just want to say thanks for offering to provide help, it's much appreciated
Having someone on the "inside" is always helpful, I know you will probably get complaints from disgruntled Orange customers but I guess you have already prepared yourself for that
The only Q I have at the moment is the same as pricefighter's - but I'm sure I'll think of some more Qs soon enough.
cheers

Hi,
I was in a similar situation, when I was away in Postugal studying for 6months, I was on an online contract of 200mins 500texts, and was about 6months from it, when I phoned and said I'd like a temporary disconnection, which meant that my number was useless for the time I was away, and I then started it back when I returned.
The thing is that I had to run another 6 months of my contract as I had the contract 6 months, away for 6 months, back to the last 6 months. This meant that I had the phone for a total of 18months before I was allowed an upgrade.
I would keep the phone contract on until after 12 months, the upgrade, and putt the contract on hold. Means when she returns she'll have a new phone, and 12 months to run on it, the tariff she is on, once you leave it, you cnat get back on it, so if the tariff is suting her then keeping her on that tariff is imperative.
If she is sneaky and doesnt mind a little bit of work the best idea would be, get PAC code after the 12 months, pop it onto a PAYG sim from someone else, then when she is abroad she'll be using the same number on a 'O2' sim then when she returns 7 months later she can port it back to Orange, take advantage of benefits of a new tariff, and new customer with her existing number, though she will be on a different tarriff.0 -
charlie12: You have to take the rough with the smooth, Im sure I'll manage. Im only giving my view on what i see would be the best for you, I dont gain anything from keeping you as an Orange employee (apart from self-satisfaction) so if I believe that moving to another networkowuld be better, I'll give you as much help moving network aswell.
Reference to pricefighter, I really havent seen aything about that apart from the terms changing, as France Telecom has changed so Orange has changed. I dont know too much, but will make sure that I read the comments on the post when I come back tongiht, and see if I can make much refernce to what I know.
Orange arent supid, so I doubt it'll be like the T-Mobile one but you never know...0 -
eco21, you have great advice. I am now at the point where I have asked for my pac code and have been polite and irate at different times! I have been with Orange for 4 years but they are happy to let me go. In fact I can get a better deal joining up as a new customer! I dont know why I am reluctact to leave, but now have the bit between my teeth, because they just dont care. Any advice gratefully received! BTW I was the lowest of low customers on 1000 off peak mins with 150 text for £20. But I wanted to spend more money but they just couldnt accommodate. C'est la vie0

I've just obtained a PAC from them, was getting nowhere with a monthly spend c.£30 and a 6230i for £99 wasn't appealing. A trip to Virgin PAYg is hardly going to cause me much pain, then I can just see the lay of the land0

I have a talkshare 120 contract - 2 handsets. I spend about £55 - £60 per month. I am very very tempted by the e2save.com reconn 6630 '3' deal @£1.99 per month, £500 mins each. Are Orange likely to offer me anything near or should I jump at e2save deal for me and the wife?0

Hi eco21. I've got a niggle with Orange at the moment.
I don't mind getting text from Orange advertising their services but what I do mind is them texting me at 4:00 in the morning. I keep this phone on 24/7 next to my bed for emergancies. Is there a way to get Orange to stop sending text at these stupid hours? I have deaf friends and they text to get in touch, so I don't want to turn off the text tone. Is there a "don't text me between these times" sort of service?
edit: I don't mind getting text from them during the day because they sometimes offer free stuff.0
