Hi there...
I'm currently an Orange customer, spending about £55 a month. i get 240 free texts and 400 free xnet mins, 2 months ago i finished my 12 month contract so i'm now considering my options...
I want more free texts, and will happily sacrifice some of my xnet minutes... As i'm a student I'm liking the idea of moving to one of the student tariffs (probably YP120?) 120 xnets mins 1000free txts a month. £25...
after 11 months I contacted orange and they said i was eligible for a phone upgrade but if i wanted to switch tariffs (to a student tariff) i'd have to go into an orange shop... (maybe to prove i'm a student??)
If i were to go into a shop do you think i'd be able to get the £50 free airtime that new customers get with a number of handsets? As you said earlier in this thread the shops aren't able to negotiate like CS can onver the phone...
If i was struggling to get the deal i wanted through an upgrade would there be anything stopping me leaving and then returning as a 'new' customer??0 -
I don't understand if you would actually be allowed to change to a tariff which is only open to new customers but if you able to, then they are essentially giving you the same tariff as new customers which includes £50 airtime.
You can reconnect to Orange with a new number, no problems. If you want to keep your tel number you need to move to say Virgin Mobile (not sure how long for) then port the number back to Orange IIRC.
BTW, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you but and I spend £40-£50 but barely use my 200 mins and thinking of switching to Student YP120 with 1000 text and £50 airtime too from my ovp voda200 tariff.
Called Orange, systems are down, so will try later.0 -
Currently pay £30 per month for 200 xnet anytime mins and 500 texts and am coming to end of 12 month Orange contract at end of month.
Not sure what upgraded handset I want but whats the best tariff out there for Orange?
Would either like more texts/mins for same cost or same for less cost.
Any help gratefully received.0 -
What is the current cheapest tariff on orange because i wish to downgrade, do they still do orange value promise in £15 a month tariffs?
When u change your tariff does it take immediate effect or do you have to wait until your next billing date?LL.B (Hons)0 -
eco hope you can help me with this one!
payg sim registered promo 3000 off peak texts when you top up £15 last march on talk & save tariff
orange will not allow me the free 600 evening calls 4 5 yrs unless i move to same rates 24/7 tariff as the 3000 & 600 promos cannot be applied, one or other on talk and save or both on 24/7.bull!!!!!!
the T&C state in the DEc orange shop mag "the promotion will be available in conjunction with promotions and rewards available prior to 1/10/05, unless otherwise specified"
they have removed the T&C from the website for 600 promo
but my 3000 promotion was before 1/10/05, and nowhere in the mag does it specify you must be on 24/7 tariff or that old tariffs are not applicable to 600 promo
been fighting this for weeks, promised again today someone will call back all to no avail
can you advise pleaseIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
Have been on contract with Orange for several years, as has my husband. We have given notice with Orange and my husband has just got bamboozled into a deal with a local retailer, which was not particularly good. I however have held back, and am after a Samsung E530 blue which is presently being offered (Orange) with something like 3000 free weekend minutes for the first six months.
I would rather do a deal for money off the monthly tariff/legit cashback/tradein, but am wary about companies I do not know who offer a half price monthly tariff, which is based on having to submit a three monthly Orange bill in order to obtain the discount.
I am entirely happy staying with Orange but just want a good deal. Do not particularly want to upgrade, as in the past the best deals have come about with new contracts.
Any ideas?0 -
Added the 600 free minutes to my payg sim and changed to the free text top up tarriff. Is this the best deal I can get? When will i get my free calls and texts? What is the best amount to top up on the tarriffs you recommend?0

Hi there,
Please can you help
My 12 month contract has come up with Orange (been with them since 1994) and I rang to find out deals they had. I wanted the W800i phone and they offered various deals like 6 months half price rental if I upgraded to the £25 pm tariff and said I could revert back to the £19pm tariff after 6 months - very good. The problem arose when they quoted me £199 for the phone - I said I wasn't willing to pay for it and started talking about the process for moving to another provider. They put me on hold and then the guy came back and advised me to cancel my contract and take a PAYG sim (retaining my number) and register it. Wait 24hrs, then contact Orange and take out a new contract and ask them to move my number to the new contract - this way I get to keep my number, get a discounted tariff for 6 months and get the phone for FREE.
This sounded a little strange, Is this a normal process ?
Thanks

It does sound strange iirc, you can't port your Orange number straight to another orange sim, you need to go through say virgin mobile and then to orange.
Did you upgrade yoru phone last year as it seems a bit rich of them to ask youn to pay £199 for the phone.0 -
you can port your number like this in this situation. The first is customer rentation to keep you a customer even thou just payasugo. Second one which advertise in orange mag is to try d get payasugo move to contract. The reason why ppl go through say virgin PAYASYOUGO simcard is to get cashback. Cause if you do it this way, to my knowledge you can't goto say goto mobileshop and take out one of their mobile contract cashback deal. Cause only Orange telesale / Shop can convert a Pay as you go to contract. /also only customer rentation can convert contract to pasy as youy go.0
