Hi
I gave notice to end my orange contract about three weeks ago.
Today I rung up for the code which would allow me to port my number to Virgin.
I was told that they would have to reactivate my account, meaning I would have to pay for an extra month, before they would give me the code.
Does that sound right0 -
Hi eco21
Oops - after 12 years of trouble free phone ownership I just managed to smash the screen / LCD on my K300i - its beyond repair so I have decided I need to get a new phone.
I am on an old Orange Everyday50 monthly contract but miles away from the end of my 12 month contract and a free upgrade.
My question is:
Can I buy a PAYG phone from the Orange website and simply put the contract SIM in it?
The reason I am confused is that there seems to be a price discrepancy...
For example, an Orange branded Sony Ericsson 750i is
₤149 for a new PAYG
or
₤279 (₤79 + ₤200 "upgrade fee") as an upgrade on my current contract
(both prices quoted to me while I was logged in to the orange site)
This is just an example as I haven't decided which phone to get but the same ₤200 charge for a contract upgrade and cheaper PAYG option seems to apply across the board.
I haven't yet researched my other options eg getting a new contract elsewhere on a SIM free phone. I was looking at something ₤100-₤200 like the Nokia 6230i, Sony Ericsson 800i or 600i as a replacement if anyone has any recs. Not fussed about 3G
Can anyone help!!??
Thanks

Just buy a PayG version and that WILL work with your contract SIM.

can anyone help, i have been given a samsung d500 that is unlocked it was originally O2 but has had both vodaphone and orange cards in it. my only problem with the phone is getting a gprs conection every time i tru it tells me there is a network error
is this down to it been an O2 phone with orange card? can it be easily solved if not its not too big a problem i will just keep my old phone and use this with an O2 card0 -
TAZ, you need to download the Orange GPRS settings to the phone. Visit http://setup.orange.co.uk/ and follow the instructions - have the Orange SIM in the phone and the website will send the settings as a text message to the phone so that they can be 'installed' and then it will be up and running on Orange GPRS.0

Hi I wonder if you can help me. I received a contract phone off orange in feb which I ordered off the orange shop on line. I have not received a bill yet. If you order off the internet how do you get your bill. I just presumed it would be in the post - I have checked my bank account and no money has been taken out or a direct debit set up with orange.0

is the bank holiday included in the orange weekend minutes"To be or not to be......that is the question"

Can I upgrade my talk plan and phone while in my 9th month of my contract. I am not happy with the plan I am on and there are a lot better ones out there but Orange seem to be happy to offer me nothing at the moment as I would have to pay to end my contract.0

This happened to us - well the DD not collected bit. Each month a bill came but no money taken by DD. Each time rang up Orange CS, and each time was assured that DD now set up blah blah.
Have had phone since December, but the first DD payment is due to come out this month!! (Up to now have had to keep paying over phone to keep line active.) BEWARE, their CS are RUBBISH - get a name and note down time/dates so that if nothing is resolved you can refer to previous calls.
