I am trying to buy the Nokia N80 on Orange Racoon £35 (18 month) through BuyMobilePhones.net who give £175 cashback. However they will not let me move my number from Orange PAYG to Orange Contract. Orange have informed me that there is no probem with doing this and I don't even need a PAC code.
I have phoned the next best deal, Mobile Phone Shop and they will not let me do it either.
Help! Why not and for what reason would these suppliers not sell me an Orange contract as surely they must still get their commission.
I have been happy with Orange compared with other people's experiences on other networks and also their deals for this phone are the most competitive. However they do not provide the free line rental that the other suppliers offer.
Orange have advised me to deal direct with them as "other companies do not usually honour ther cashback etc." Would I have a problem reclaiming this through these companies as I have read the horror stories with E2Save?
Any advice please.0 -

The solution is to port your number to PAYG on another network and then port back to your new Orange contract. It may sound like a tedious process but it is straightforward and does not take long.jicms wrote:Orange have advised me to deal direct with them as "other companies do not usually honour ther cashback etc." Would I have a problem reclaiming this through these companies as I have read the horror stories with E2Save?

think its 90 days to port a number over to orange, best bet is just give customer services a ring and see if theyll do itYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Hi there,
I am on Orange Student Contract. I was phoned in November and told them couldn't improve my contract - but gave me a Samsung D600.
Unfortunately the week went by, but I HATE the phone. I have now cracked it. I am 6 months into my contract. I was wondering if I phoned them for an upgrade is there anyway I could be helped?0 -
Mobile_Mole wrote:The commission is far less for a number migration. So while it can technically be done there is no way the retailer could offer the same cashback as if you were a new Orange customer.

The network would say that! Of course they prefer you to buy direct from them. You will hear good and bad stories about most of the well known dealers. Personally I only recommend mobileshop and e2save.

Wow that's a thought. I was almost weakening to change network but think I will try this 2-stage porting idea. It's also a bit worrying if e2save are one of the better ones with all the complaints on this site! Thanks.0 -

you can upgrade at any point but youll have to pay un upgrade fee - so it would be like £200 just for the privalige of upgrading, if your on a low plan the upgrade fee at that point is likely to be a lot higher than if you were on a very high plan
if you go into a store or ring CS they'll be able to tell you what your options are,
basicly if your on a low plan and dont use it very much it would be worth just buying a £20 pay as u go for a lil while until the upgrades dueYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Hi, just taken a deal on above tariff which matches 02 tariff, does anyone know whether the inclusive calls also cover calls made to prefix 0871?
Thanks
(Have e-mailed Orange Cust Services almost 1 month ago, no reply!)0 -
Neither O2 nor Orange includes calls to 0871 in your bundled minutes.0

Neither does any other UK Network come to that.
O2 charge 35p a minute to call 0871  ,so Orange will match that on your O2 matching tariff.
