As a new customer you won't get it cheaper, but if you place your order online and link through www.quidco.com you will get £65 cashback.0 -
Check your bills ASAP. My BB has gone up by almost £3 starting 2010!!!!!!!!0

Line rental £11
Talk Evenings and Weekend £3.45
Loyalty Discount for BB, TV and Phone -22.70
Additional Loyalty -£1.75
Free Voicemail and Itemised Billing £0
TV XL 23.00
Broadband L £25
Paper Bill £1.25
Total £39.25
Spoke to retentions as I didn't want the £3.45 Talk Evenings and Weekends. Not helpful, told me I would loose all my discounts, so told them to cancel all if they couldn't be helpful.
Anyone on a better deal then I was? Might call them back. or might go for Sky!0 -
What time does the retentions phoneline close at night?
My deal runs out in a day or 2 if I say cancel, can they/do they ask for 30 days notice to be given? My argument is that I agreed a 12 month contract, now that 12 months is up I don't see that I owe them any 30 day notice period.0 -
I think you do Wig - should start cancel at 11 months imho
I am having fun too and currently am on a cancellation in early December - keep getting idiots calling me who have no negotiating power so batting away until the decent people from Sheffield call - will set up BT line soon if no joy
All I am getting offered is worse than a new customer and I'm not having it
New customers can have BB L TV XL and Phone XL for approx £37pcm with the discounts in 1st 2 months - it sucks0 -
There's nothing written down, no verbal contract was given, nothing signed, (other than 12 months verbal), don't see how they can expect a 30 day notice period.
Look at post #812Well done, when, in May, I gave 'em the same after 8 years, without a problem from them or me, they said "OK" and promptly disconnected me!0 -
Anyhoo,
I have Telephone & 10Mb BB
Which started out as telephone & 2Mb BB @ £15.50.
5 months into the 12 month contract they upped it £3 to £18.50 month with 10Mb upgrade which I have never bothered to upgrade to - I am actually getting 3.5Mb
Which is not my idea of "agreeing a 12 month contract"
Anyway I did expect the contract to have expired last month, but then I got another bill for Oct/Nov for the same amount, So I figured that because I renewed the contract late last year they gave me a Nov - Nov contract instead of an Oct - Oct
So I just phoned them up, and asked him when my contract was going to expire, and he said "it already has" So I asked him what my bill was going to be next month, and he said it will be the same - he could see no reason why the discounts would be removed - so I said "ok if it stays the same I won't cancel" and he wrote some case notes to explain that I was happy to continue as long as it stayed the same.
He did offer me a new 12 month contract @ £18 month which I declined. (don't want to be tied in all the time - only saving 50p month)
Weird, I thought the discounts would be cancelled at end of contract. I suppose I should ring back and say I want the right to cancel immediately if they ever remove the discounts.
Now I suppose (because I'm now past my contract period) I have to give them 30 days notice as long as it remains £18.50 well I won't mind giving 30 days notice, because the price is reasonable. Whereas if they raised the price to £30 I would mind very much giving 30 days notice.0 -
Well it's been confirmed, I just got my Nov - Dec bill online and it does still say £18.50 so I seem to be on £18.50 for the forseeable future with no contract! :j
I might even upgrade to 10Mb - I might aswell as I am paying for it. Just wondering if that will actually affect my speed negatively? I've seen people complaining about not getting 10Mb, and getting as low as 0.5Mb, 1Mb....
My logic is that I am on the 2Mb feed (getting 3.5Mb uploading at 0.5Mb) because no one else is on this feed, if I switch to the 10Mb feed I join everyone else and my speed falls as a result???0 -

Wig, the upgrade to 10Mb was automatic, you do not have to "upgrade" to it. If you are only receiving 3.5Mb download then it sounds like you are on 10Mb but not getting the correct speeds. Which modem do you have and how is it connected to the pc? If you are connected via USB then you won't get 10Mb, you need to change to ethernet connection.
If you log into the modem config pages through your web browser it will tell you which connection you are on. Go to http://192.168.100.10 -
I was told I had to upgrade to the 10Mb service by following some instructions, can't remember what those instructions were though, after a couple of months of me not doing it, they sent an email telling me I really should upgrade as I was not taking advantage of the new speed available to me.
At that time, however I was still getting 2Mb speed, but at some point between then and now it did jump to 3.5Mb, I first noticed it had jumped after I spoke to the BB helpdesk, who I was phoning to get them to fix my email subaccount. Maybe she tweaked something when she noticed I was still on 2Mb
Tried your link, but my username and password are not working, I used the username and password for my ntl email acount.0
