Anyone know is there a best/worst time of the day to call? I tried the other day about 8pm and they basically offered me nothing to stay with them! Said I could have a V+ box for £49 but I see on here some customers have got them free plus been offered other things. I'm going to try again but wondered if anyone had any theories on this! Currently have XL TV, L BB, M phone for approx £34pm (customer for about 8 years).

I normally ring when I get in from work at about 6:00pm. They have always gice me a deal. Just be polite with them. Good Luck
  • That should be around £20.

I have now(when they bring the V+ box.)
    M TV
    M BB(10mb)
    talk anytime
    V+ HD

    £24.50.

I talked (and flirted heavily) with a lovely girl from sheffield in the retentions department, and she gave me:

    M TV
    L BB
    Talk evenings & weekends

    £24 p/m

I'm quite happy, but I did try for the XL BB but they could only offer it for £30 p/m. It pays to persevere and be as nice as possible to the person on the other end of the phone.
  • So am I paying too much, even with my discounts?

    Standard box
    TV: XL
    BB: M
Tel: M + talk weekends (don't use it at all but package is cheaper with it than without!)
    Sports and Movies
    2 Additional standard boxes

    Monthly bill approx £79

Judging by a couple of people on the last few pages, even though the above includes £21 discount for having all 3 BB/TV/Tel, and £11 discount on the 2 extra boxes, I'm still paying £10 to £20 more than some people with similar packages! What should I be paying?

Would it be cheaper in the long term to switch 1 or even all 3 boxes to V+?

Getting towards the end of my current BB discount period so made the big decision to get all 3 packages from Virgin

    Tv- XL
    Ph - M
    BB - L
    V+ box

£28 for next 2 months and then £38. Tel/Phone installation mid Oct and with Sky going on 4th Oct , no recordable telly for a couple of weeks :-(

Happy enough with the deal and didn't try too hard to get anything better.
  • Hi, ive checked a few packages that people on here have been offered and just like to know whether or not mine is ok for the price, ive been with virgin since the blueyonder days.. here is a breakdown of what my bill looks like

    telephone line rental - £11
    talk international - £1.50
    talk unlimited - £7.95
    talk mobile - £1.50
    loyalty pack: bb/phone - £19.46
    bb xl - £37.00
    paper bill charge - £1.25
    tv size m - £0

so total each month is £39.87

best i got on the phone is £36 which doesnt really seem good as I want to remove talk unlimited and international, they say this is because of my loyalty package..

could anyone help me with this please?

and also has anyone asked about going onto the 50mb service, if so what have you been charged or been told would be charged?

    thank you

I have had a Virgin Broadband service since NTL days.I was paying £9 a month last year. This year I negotiated £10 a month for a further 12 month period on the 10 Meg service.
It is necessary to contact Virgin at the end of the deal to renew.
This year I have taken a chance to rely on the Broadband connection for all my phone calls via a voip solution and have cancelled my BT landline.
I have 2 lines on a voip adaptor using a spare router port.
Voipcheap give 120 days of free calls to landlines in many countries for a £10 + vat top up (1p a min after that).
I ported my BT number to Connexin who have low call charges and excellent customer support and are UK based.
I can now use my old BT Landline number which I have had for 30 years anywhere there is a good Internet connection.
I can report up to now all is working well
  • I've been with VM for just over a year and am about to move house. Current deal is:

    BB: M (10mb - upgrade from 2mb)
    Tel: Line Rental

    £17.50 p/m

I've been told that when I move it will go up to £25 p/m because that broadband package doesn't exist anymore (I can also have the 'M' TV package for free if I want it, which I'm not fussed about).

The reality is I can get 8mb broadband from O2 plus line rental from whoever for £17.50 a month when I move. Virgin seem to be shrugging their shoulders and trying to convince me with the line - 'yes but it's not fibre optic'.

Anyone had any luck staying with this package and keeping the cost down? I'm happy with VM, but there isn't any incentive to stay with them at this price - especially as I'm moving so something has to be installed either way.

Answering my own question... I phoned them again saying I was leaving (which I was prepared to do) and they said I could keep my current deal. So, I'm happy with that!

I've been a VM customer for a while now. Moved to present house in March 2009 and renewed contract here.

    Presently receive...

    Line rental - £11.00
    Talk Unlimited - £7.95
    TV XL package - £23.00
    Broadband M package - £20.00
    Sky Sports 1, 2 - £19.50
    - Bundle saving - £9.50

Total cost per month = £71.45

What should I be aiming to get it down to? I download virtually nothing at all in the way of films, songs etc so no concerns there.
