Answering my own question... I phoned them again saying I was leaving (which I was prepared to do) and they said I could keep my current deal. So, I'm happy with that!

Well done, when, in May, I gave 'em the same after 8 years, without a problem from them or me, they said "OK" and promptly disconnected me!

  • Hello Virgin Retention Whizz Kids!
Having just looked at Virgins website I think I have cause to negotiate a new deal.
My contract finished in May but being the lazy baggage that I am have just been plodding along and paying what they say each month. At present I pay
    Telephone line rental £11.00
    TV XL £23.00
    Talk Weekends £0.00
    Broadband L £25.00
    Loyalty Pack BB/Phone?TV/B Sky £-21.00
    Movies/Sport Pack £27.50

    Total £65.50

This seems high to the prices on the website and I don't even have the Free router.

Any advice as to what I should be paying/getting gratefully received.
    Thank you ML

Now why didn't I take any notice of the
    second part of that quote!!???
  • I've been a Virgin Media customer since the Blueyonder days. Contract was renewed back in January this year I think and I purchased a V+ in February. I am currently paying as follows: -

    Telephone £11
Phone, TV & BB Bundle Saving (£9.50)
    Call Reject £2.50
    TV Size L £23
    V+ Box £0
    Broadband Size £25
    Premium TV channels £27.50

    Total £79.50

I see that they are currently offering the L Broadband for £5 for three months, then up to £14 from the fourth month. So that's £11 less than I'm paying for it. XL TV states £21.50 so that's a £1.50 saving I could make and I'm looking to get rid of the Movie Channels from my Premium TV channels package which would mean I'd be paying £20.50 instead of £27.50.

Haven't phoned them yet, just want to get the input of the people on here.
  • Needing to add BB to service - currently we have

    Phone M 11.00 (Talk weekend)
    TV XL 23.00
    Sports 20.50
    V+ 00.00

I was quoted an extra 18.50 for XL BB - making a total of 73.00

She didn't seem to want to offer any package discounts.....would I get anything more ???
What should I put in here that won't upset people.........

I've been a VM customer for a while now. Moved to present house in March 2009 and renewed contract here.

    Presently receive...

    Line rental - £11.00
    Talk Unlimited - £7.95
    TV XL package - £23.00
    Broadband M package - £20.00
    Sky Sports 1, 2 - £19.50
    - Bundle saving - £9.50

Total cost per month = £71.45

What should I be aiming to get it down to? I download virtually nothing at all in the way of films, songs etc so no concerns there.

Took the plunge and called them earlier. I really can't afford to continue paying over £70 a month for that lost.

I've downsized to a L package TV and lost my Sky Sports 1,2 bit too. I've kept my phone package the same and now have large broadband as medium isn't sold anymore. I've gone to e-billing and direct debit too and my total monthly bill is.....

    £42.95!!

Much better, I did push for cheaper still but that's as good as it got. The Virgin lady said that their hands are tied with reference to Sky as they "have" to charge the £20.50. I'd have loved to keep the Sky Sports channels as they are good value but they're not really when I can't afford it.

My bill came recently and I'll get £30 off that too due to the advance charges being reduced.:T
  • Just negotiated my deal which i am happy enough with i think:

    XL TV
    L BB
    M phone
    Sky sports pack

All this for £57 per month with a credit of £57 applied to my account for the first month.

Was on the triple XL pack previous for £57 so too a downgrade in phone and BB. This was the best i could get after 3 calls so satisfied enough albiet not exactly bouncing off the walls!

Just reading all the negotiations on packages - I have a good deal:

    Free TV (Basic)
    10mb broadband
    Tel line rental/local calls included

    Paying about £19.

    Sounds good BUT...

Just not getting the service despite the good deal - never get 10mb of broadband, TV good but not 100%, phone service even had various faults.

Have spent about 6 hrs on the phone the last few days complaining about broadband and have been consistently lied to about what the problem is - speed ranges from 1/2 mb to 8mb - the latter being completely unacceptable:mad:. Have been told - its my wireless router, its the modem, its our houses overusage and today it was overusage in the area and the engineers are working on it!!!

I've had enough of their excuses and lies and hanging on the phone for hours on end.

So be aware you may think you're getting a bargain but if the service they actually provide isn't consistent and up to standard - is it worth it..... I'm now investigating Sky....

Oh yes forgot email - constantly going down.... guess what not working at the moment!!
  • Hey guys, some impressive deals here!

I was just wanting an opinion on whether me asking for a deal would be cheeky or not, seeing as I've only been with Virgin for about 3 weeks now!

I'm currently paying the standard M Broadband deal. £11 line rental (required) and £14 internet, which is £5 for the first 3 months.

That works out as £22 for just internet. What do you think?
  • Virgin Package for ages. Gone past original contract and have agreed to be paying the same amount.
    approx £19 for :
    bb
    tv basic
phone which includes free anytime local calls
this is a bargain and i've put several friends onto it at the time.

    heres the rub....

get a phone call offering free upgrade to max tv package for one month - simply cancel at end of month at no cost. ideal loadsa free tv.

at the end of the month the call turned into SORRY but the sales agent changed your package to £31 and theres no way they can change it back because the original discount isnt on their system anymore.

can they do this and what sort of contractual obligation do they have to not change my price without my permission???????????

i simply want my old price back!
