Just rang VM to upgrade my package as bf wants sky sports.

I was on M BB for £20 + M TV package for £5.50 - total paid per month was £24.

Rang up to add more channes and got the L package for a further £3.50. Also added sky sports package for a further £25 pm.

However they wouldn't budge on anything else. So now paying £52 pm - any views please? Reading other posts makes me think I have not got a very good deal.

Does this sound ok or is it worth phoning up and speaking to someone else?

    thanks

    Hi,

    I am currently getting

    TV XL
    BB L
    Talk Weekends

    for £46.50.

    I´ve got a V+ box and a second, standard V-box upstairs.

This monthly service charge includes the following discounts:
    - Loyalty Bb/Phone/TV discount of £17.25
    - Additional Loyalty Discount of £ 1.75
    - Add Set Box(es) Discount of £ 10.00

My contract ends soon, so I wonder if you believe there´s a chance of getting an even better deal. The only 2 things I´d be really keen on are BB XL or XXL and/or adding the SkySports & SkyMovies package. Alternatively, a price reduction on the existing package would be equally welcome.

Is someone here on such packages and could share with me what you pay for these services? Thank you!

    Rgds,
    DUS

10 meg BB, XLTV with free ESPN, M phone and Sky Sports package is £54 on their website so for an extra £2, you get a lot more channels.

    Hi all,

I've been reading the VM newsgroups lately and have gotten really confused by some of the discussions people have been having about their various deals and savings. I stuck 'virginmedia retentions' into google and found this thread - I hope people don't mind me asking for some advice here!

My bill currently says I'm getting the following,
    Telephone Line Rental £11.00
    Payment Handling Charge £5.00
    Talk Unlimited £7.95
    Phone, TV & B B Bundle Saving £-9.50
    Call Displ £2.00
    T V Size: X L £23.00
Broadband Size: L £25.00 (used to be called size M)

I've been a customer with VM since it was blueyonder, more than ten years now, but I've never called up retentions or anything like that. Bill this month came to £62 (£76 with call charges, more than I'd like to be paying). Is it worth me calling up and trying to get a deal? Does anyone else have a similar package - or similar with the XXL broadband? I've been thinking of upgrading.

    Thanks for any help!
    Claire.
  • I'm out of contract at the moment, and paying 44.45 a month for TV M, Tel L and BBXL.

I'd like to get BB XXL and a V+ box, but they CS are quoting me another 10 a month plus 70 quid in installs 50 for V+ and 20 for BB. This doesn't compare well to the virgin media site for new customers which offers that combination in total for 42 a month, less than I am currently paying.

Should I threaten to leave and come back, do you think retentions would do a deal in this case when really I want to upgrade?

Made another call was offered 10 Meg for 13.00 for 6 months and was told a credit would get put on my account so that I get the 13.00 rate for a further 6 months, was mentioned that I can call up again to see if their are any better offers avaliable. :j

That's a great result. Well done.

    Hi,

How would you guys rate the following offer:

    TV XL
    BB L
    Talk Weekends
    2 boxes (1 V+, 1 standard)
    SkySports+Movie Package

    for £60.00

Same as the above with BB XL was offered at 70 and BB XXL for 82.

    Thoughts?

  • I'm looking to sign up as a new customer, as the current deal on the website looks tempting:

    M+ TV
    L BB
    M Phone
    £19.50 plus £11 line rental = £30.50/month

First two months are currently free (Only with this exact combination), plus they give you £20 credit off your first bill, and will get £150 from Quidco.

Over a year, works out as:

    £30.50 x 10 = £305 (Two months are free, so only 10 months)
    - £20 (Free Credit) = £285
    - £150 (Quidco) = £135
    £135/12 = £11.25 (Average per month)

After the first two free months and Quidco money, I might try to call up and upgrade the phone service or see if they can offer any better deals....

(The o2 deal works out £12.83 per month including BT line rental, Quidco money, 3 motnhs free and cheapest BB package £7.34 per month, and doesn't give you any TV package. M+ on this deal gives Sky 1, Discovery etc)

Good deal if the Quidco pays out, if it doesn't it could be quite expensive. Depends on whether you can afford to take the gamble.
  • True - I always try to think of Quidco money as a bonus but this looks good enough to be worth the gamble. Their payout rating is very good on Quidco, and I've read elsewhere that the bigger deals tend to pay out due to the higher profile...

Agree with your recommendation for caution, though - wouldn't want to tell someone else to do it unless they're aware it isn't 100% safe
