Virgin Media Retention thread

I don't want to pay more for the BB, so this £2 for L BB increase ticked me off (plus I still didn't get the upgrade yet). But my wife would be interested in upgrading to XL TV. I wouldn't mind either, if it was just a pound or two extra per month. V+ box wouldn't be bad either, but not for £5/month, that is a waste of good money just to use something that records stuff.
An extra V box would be a plus, but that would probably mean the engineers would need to put their "plugs" on 3 floors (as the PC would be in the attic, with the modem and router, plus 1 TV on the other two floors).
I also paid for my own router, do you think I can play with that to get a better deal?
Also, I'm actually moving in one month. Now, given that I don't want to be without either TV or BB in my new flat when I move, how should I play my cards?
Thank you for all your moneysaving advices in advance. :T
Well I did a bit more research and I would like to say that a V+ box is off the books, too expensive.
So what I would like to know is what is a good offer for L BB and L TV, or L BB and XL TV, no phone line.
And then, should I cancel first, or renegotiate a new monthly payment first and cancel later?
Cheers.0 -

Well if I were you, I would price up a few other providers. Then I would ring Virgin Media and go through to retentions. Tell them the prices you've been quoted, and ask them if they can beat it.
If you can't find anyone with a better price than VM, the chances are they are not going to give you a better deal.
Good luck!0 -
Just managed to get 2MB BB alone for £10 on a 12 month contract. It can be done, so keep at it guys.0

Hey folks can anyone please give me a valid Virgin retention team number? I dont have a virgin phone line, so have to call them from my mobile... CS is useless...
My contract is over next month and I am moving house to a non-cable area, that means a new contract....
Now they told me to get their broadband I need a BT phone line(ok getting it, although i do not use the landline phone at all so about £11 a month towards broadband) but now what they currently offer me (£15 for broadband) is not really competitive.
Considering getting O2 broadband together with O2 sim card and broadband discount AND first 3 months free.
Been happy with Virgin broadband service, and would like to give them another try if they offer me a better deal.
Can anyone please help me with the number?
Many thanks!0 -
Not sure if this number works, but it's listed in saynoto0870.com as 01642 191 200. Hope it works!

My VM monthly bill arrived this morning for 2MB BB only and had increased from £17.62 to £20.87.
So I called up VM retentions on 0800 052 6060 (options 3,2,2) and the best they could do for BB only was £18/month so I gave my notice to cancel. Perhaps they're feeling the squeeze atm.
I've already got a BT line so it looks like I'll be going with O2 (-unless they call me back with a better offer?).
Anyway, the freefone number works fine.

Also got my bill for next month through today. Reached the end of my discounted period so my 10mb deal was going from £9 to £18.75. Rang them up and they offered a new 1 year contract for £10 a month (didn't ask whether that was paperlesss billing or not to potentially move it down to £9). THe big difference I would guess between myself and yourself is I'm on cable and it sounds like you are via phone line? (does the £20.87 include the phone line rental?)
Anyway, I was also offered 10Mb, TV- XL and Phone- Medium for £39.75.
I think Sky are going to be getting another cancellation tonight!0 -

Did you ring retentions for this deal and what did you say?0
