  • Im in the same position (ie only want broadband) My contract came to an end and I was told to ring back in 3 weeks when there would be an offer of broadband for £11 a month - completely untrue!

I do NOT want a virgin phone, only broadband and from having paid £14 a month (£10 for 6 mths and £18 for 6 mths) I have been told that I will have to pay £20 a moth! I am absolutely incensed. Tried haggling but no joy.

Any advice? I want a reliable, unlimited company with minimal tech support phoneline costs

Do not cancel and let them ring you. I rang and i said i rang in yesterday and the nice lady yesterday offered me £10 deal and shes said i can accept it today. (Just make it up) and they will say ok and move you to the £10 deal. If they say the £10 deal dont exist say you want to speak to the manager or supervisor and make the story up of the £10 deal again. If it still doesnt work hang up and do it again. Guaranteed to work... I still canceled my BB as £10 is not good enough for S BB.

I'm pretty sure they're wise to that - I had to go via an indian call centre and had huge problems getting through anyway. I have a feeling they note the previous conversations on your account so they know what you've been offered. I'm so furious I'm gonna cancel anyway. Can anyone suggest a halfway decent service?

I am looking for some advice/ comments please. I have booked to have a bt line put in for free which would then give me all the choices for broadband etc.

We have never had any problems with Virgin and now we are leaving they are offering us up to 10mb and line rental for £19.95 instead of the 2mb and line rental that we pay £27 for.

So do I move or stay and save money and not have any hassle?

Need to decide by friday so really appreciate any advice.

Also got my bill for next month through today. Reached the end of my discounted period so my 10mb deal was going from £9 to £18.75. Rang them up and they offered a new 1 year contract for £10 a month (didn't ask whether that was paperlesss billing or not to potentially move it down to £9). THe big difference I would guess between myself and yourself is I'm on cable and it sounds like you are via phone line? (does the £20.87 include the phone line rental?)

Anyway, I was also offered 10Mb, TV- XL and Phone- Medium for £39.75.
I think Sky are going to be getting another cancellation tonight!

Right, this comment is fairly helpful.
Do you think they could knock off more than £11 out of that £39.75 offer for an existing user, or would I be better off if I go for the offer of £120 for joining by Quidco in the new flat I'm moving into on 1st July?

I have just M size broadband.

Been on £10 deal for several months but i was declined it a few months ago, saying it no longer is on offer.

Read this thread and saw it was back and asked for it. I am now back on the £10 a month deal. Its now called S size broadband as you know.

However there is a subtle difference this time, there is a 6 month contract attached. The last 6 month deal was £10 for 6 months but I could quit at anytime.

I'm now locked in until end of November/early December.

As I asked a few posts before.... you may want to check if you are blocked from signing up again for 3 months.

So you're saying that if I cancel today and call them later to register at a new address that they won't make the installation? What is this, they'll know it's me by the name or something? Or is it because I will say that I have been with them before?
    Can't I omit this?

This must have changed then. As I enquired at my local VM shop and they said I need to give 30 days notice but could then sign up to new customer deals once the plug has been pulled.

Ah sorry, not so sure about a different address. Perhaps sign up in a family members name instead to be safe?
