Virgin Media Retention thread

I didn't think it was going to be a FREE upgrade. I'm sure the customer service agent mentioned that i will be charged an extra £2.
have i missed something?
You are right, Virgin no longer do size M at 2mb, the lowest now is size L at 10mb and that is £20/month instead of £18. Just depends on package bundle and deal you get I suppose on the effect of the increase. They now advertise a free wireless router with size L whereas I had to pay them for one last October. Speaking to retentions i have just got the V+HD box at £49 which they offer to people upgrading to XL tv. As I am already on XL customer service said it would be £99 so I asked to be put through to retentions for the deal.0 -
just done it.... just a case of wait and see now.... Thanks all for your help
I registered last Saturday evening and was upgraded sometime Monday, I did post how to do it but it seems to have been ignored.( Not aimed at you Spikey).

10mbps L has higher usage limits to the 10mbps M, that's why it costs more.
Also the £2/ mth increase is across the board and not just the 2mbps service.
Another thing to note is that, while you may pay a lower price for a service, VM treat that as a discount on the base price, not a set price.
That is why they can up the rates by saying you are still getting your discount, but off a higher price.
But I can't grumble at £8.37/mth for a solid 9.8mbps service.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
My brother is still within his initial 12 month contract for £10 with paper billing for the 2MB service. Now the new bill shows monthly rate has gone up by £1.25 due to paper billing. Is this a breach of contract or not?0

If someone is on a 10.00 a month deal and they choose to upgrade do they stay on the 10.00 a month deal until it expires.
I get this
"If you are a size: M customer, ring 0845 454 1111 to sign up to go faster."0 -

See my post #25, hope it reassures you.

Has anyone had any decent discounts on the VIP package at all? I'm quite interested to get it as it suits me perfectly! Only on xl bb and M phone at moment, tele is with sky, but looking to cancel as they don't care about retentions!0

I was offered VIP for £83.20, a massive saving of £4.80 on the advertised price, when I called on Thursday to cancel the phone and broadband services.
If anyone could help with my issue over just having XL TV, I have posted a new thread on the 'Digital TV' board called "Virgin Media standalone prices". (Only a newbie so can't post a link)
Any advice appreciated!0 -

Thanks for that. I made my request a couple of days ago. Now measuring my speed at 9 MB. Excellent.0 -
Could someone please help me.
I have 10mb internet followed by telephone XL which comes at a price of £26, as I have a discount of £19.
But should I upgrade to 50mb, its obviously £50 installation and activation fee, but XXL broadband and XL telephone with line rental comes at £51.
Now for new customers the above service would be £54. So the retentions only giving me £3 cheaper. Should I bargain for more? Ive gone through with it, but should I ring up and cancel in anticipation of a better deal from them?
Please advice guys...0
