Are you going through to customer services or retentions?
Whenever I ring I always pick the options for retentions or when they ask; are you thinking of leaving? and they seem to have more authority to give discounts.0 -

It sounds like your chatting with CS rather than retentions, Retentions have more deals to offer to customers and will normally do all they can to keep you as a customer.
So call back 150 and follow the options for thinking of leaving.
I just said I am leaving to come back as a new customer to take advantage of a deal. Hey presto they changed me :beer:If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
erm i think it was the 0845 840 7777 number, so can you just use the 150 number on the house handset? and just say im not happy with the price of the service and see what they can do?0

Ring 150 from your landline and select the option you are thinking of leaving.0 -
i rang up this morning and spoke to a very nice chap who put me on the 25-month deal, the only thing i wasnt sure about was the phone line. he said im on unlimited at the moment but i still pay around £10 call charges a month but i dont use the phone alot only about 30 calls last month and there mostly local landline calls so im sure hes got mixed up on that, so anyway i droped the phone to the basic one of weekend free calls so its come to £25+ the 2 pund for calldisplay i have. he said im free to upgrade or downgrade if im not happy but im gonna give it amonth and see how this new plan works out first. oh and my BB will be upgraded to 10mb by tomorrow.
So a big thanks guys, hopefully i will be saving a few bob on my bill0 -
Right, I know this isn't going to help 99% of you in terms of getting this deal, but it might help you gauge whether you're getting a good deal with VM...
A good friend of mine works for VM and they have started something called "Mates Rates". Basically a friends and family thing that employees of VM only get access to. Anyway, the deal they're offering is as follows:
The Mates Rates bundle
Virgin TV
160 digital TV channels including Setanta and Music Video on Demand
V+ HD box
Plus, an additional set top box for another room
Virgin Broadband
Up to 20Mb fibre optic broadband
Free wireless router
Backup and store precious files. Print 50 free photos a month
Virgin Phone
Completely unlimited calls to UK landlines, 24/7
Plus, Talk International and Talk Mobile for free
The price they are charging for all this is £33.50 a month (usually £67) when taken with e-billing on a Direct Debit.

I'm wondering if I really need to wait until my 12 month contract is up in July to start with retentions. If I was to ring them now would they not have me over a barrel as I'd have to pay for the remainder of the 12 months anyway?
Any input welcome.

I would suggest that you wait until the 12mths is up that way you can say "I am considering leaving"
As you say above if you call now you will be breaking your contract and due them money!!!!
Hope that helpsIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0
