I'm paying 7.34 (discount for having my mobile with them) for 8mb and will be upgrading to 20mb (9.79) after I get my Quidco cashback. I'm so happy I ditched VM (all 3 services). I wish I'd done it sooner.

Hope you can answer these questions,

Did they charge you a cancellation fee and if yes, how much?

Also did you cancel their services before your 12 month contract or after it?

    Thanks

Just gave Virgin Media a call. I am on Large Broadband at £25 p/m which is very expensive and tried to get a lower cost.

Best they could offer me was £17 p/m for the Large and £14 p/m for Medium. She was quite happy to cancel my contract and didn't spend any time offering me a better deal.

Nevermind... Looks like I am going to have to find broadband elsewhere. Any suggestions?

We have a BT line but it hasn't been used for about 10 years. My parents, who I live with have VM Phone and TV. Might be an option for them to try and get BB on their package?

I just gave Virgin a call as my contract from last year had ran out, to see what deals I could get. I told them I was thinking of moving to Sky for their + HD package, this is what I got offered:-

    BB 10mb
Tel Medium (Evening and weekend calls free)
Tv XL incl sky movies & sports
    V+ hd Box for £49
Free x 2 set top box and installation for bedrooms

    Monthly cost £61.00

    Had previously

    BB 2mb
    Tel Medium
    Tv Large
    Standard ste top box

    Previous Monthly cost £31.00

What you think good deal? (It will tie me up for 12 months)

Total Debts July 2012 £20,648.00
  • We've been with Ntl then Virgin Media for the last 4 years. We aren't on a contract with them at present. Below is listed our present package:

    Tel Line Rental £11.00
    Talk Unlimited £7.95
    TV Size: XL £22.00
    V+ Box £10.00
    Movies4,Movies5,Sports1,Sports2 £26.00
    B/Band Size: L £25.00

    Discount:
    Loyalty Pack BB/Phone/TV C Sky -£25.00

    Total £76.95

We felt that this is too expensive so we called them last week. They refused to offer any reductions on any of the components of our package so we spoke to retentions dept and we've given 30days notice period.

Is anyone receiving this package at better rates?
Will they contact us before the 30day period finishes?

    Thanks for advice

Had a phonecall from Virgin Media this evening and they asked why I was leaving. I explained my reasons and they offered me the Large 10MB service for £10 per month (for 6 months). Looks like I will be staying for a little while longer.

    Hey folks.

I'm due to move into my new rented flat on friday and looking to get a package which will give me phone, broadband and tv. The previous tenant was hooked up to Virgin and was paying £21pm for the basic package. Does this seem reasonable? She is leaving her box so do you think I'd get a good deal if I explained the situation? Surely it's just a matter of choosing a decent package and switching me back on? If anyone has any other hints or tips I'd appreciate it. First time sorting this stuff out and looking for guidance.

    cheers

I am currently paying £15.17 a month for M Broadband and basic telephone line rental

(£18 Broadband, £11 line rental, - £12.50 bundle discount, 1£1.00 online bill and -£0.33 VAT rebate).

I am quite happy with this deal since I am locked into cable and don't use TV (or even the phone really, just have to have it for the deal).

Presumably when my contract comes to an end in a couple of months, does this mean that the discount will disappear and I will be charged £29 a month, or is there a way of convincing them to keep it?

Also, is the changes of getting rid of M broadband going to hit my bill immediately or only when I come to renew it?

    Thanks

I called last night to see about bringing down the cost of my 2mb @ £18, I have been on the £10 for 6 months a few times in recent years, I tend to allow the 6 month deal to lapse, pay a couple of months at £18 then ring'em and go again at £10, it's always worked fine in the past.

However, last night, nothing other than free 'upgrade to 10mb'!

When I suggested that I should go to o2 for a much lower price the guy simply said Ok and duly cancelled my account.

I might have shot myself in the foot though as whilst o2 is available in my area (as their e-mails and mail shots have informed me many times) but, unknown to me until last night, I'm just outside their 5.5km limit and therefore they wont sign me up.

I hope Virgin ring me in the next few days. :o

Anyone know how long I'll have to wait, (if at all) before Virgin consider me a 'new customer'?

Oh, over 10 years as a customer means nothing it seems.
