Virgin Media Retention thread

Ta. I wasn't clear whether the people in this thread were trying their luck before their contracts ended.
I think I'm just eager because I've got the week off so had the time and inclination to do this sort of thing.0 -
My contract with VM is up in a few days.
Currently I'm paying £32 for:
XL BB
M Phone
I've been with VM (ntl) for about 9 years, I've just had a look on the VM site & it looks like I'm on the same deal as new customers.
do you guys think I can get a better deal seeing that I'm a long time customer? What kind of deal can I expect? I'm thinking of upgrading to the XXL BB.0 -

Recently VM don't seem to give a toss about customer loyalty, so good luck and let us know how you get on.You should be able to go on this package and will cost £25 per month for 10MB broadband and M phone.

Why pay £25 for 10MB BB and phone when you could get 20MB O2 BB and BT line for around £22!! If you get the approx equivalent service, you could bring this down to under £20 for O2 8MB BB plus BT line. If you shopped around a bit more you could probably beat this price.
Using separate providers like this means you have maximum flexibility to chop and change when you like and be in the best bargaining power. VM are ripping customers off big time with their inflation busting price hikes in the middle of a recession and deflation! Their packages have gone up by around £10 across the board over the last 12 months.
2MB BB used to be £10, now £20 (with speed upgrade to 10MB)
2MB BB + phone used to be £15.50, now £25 (with speed upgrade to 10MB)
This goes for us all. I have just given my notice for their 2MB service, for which I used to pay £10/month. Now they are wanting £20 a month claiming they will be giving me a speed increase! A speed increase which I do not want or need. They started taking the extra money in April even though the speed won't increase until around September, a full 6 months paying £20 when I will be getting the same 2MB service I used to pay £10 for.:mad:0 -
I phoned VM a month ago and got a date for diconnection.....they phoned me up a couple of times during the 30 day period and offered Large BB and Medium phone for £19.95 a month (conditional on signing a new contact)
I decided to wait and see what would happen if I let the disconnection go ahead so I did (it happened while I was away this last weekend). So yesterday I phoned them and was given the option of signing up as a new customer or speaking to the retentions team (even though all services were terminated)........I spoke to BOTH departments...retentions offered me trhe same deal as previously but the new customer department offered me Large BB (10 MEG) and Medium phoneline for £15.50 for the first 6 months....then £20 a month for the remainder AND they put a £30 credit on my account. That works out at about £15.25 a month! Signed.
By the way retention deals only give a 7 day cooling off period instead of 30 as with new customer deals.0 -
