Yes. You or your partner will be 'new customers' the moment you disconnect.

    Thanks. Now's the main question:

What are the best deals, cashback offers, freebies etc on at Virgin just now, assuming I'll be a new customer.

I tried to search this for threads on cashback offers but I'm not too familiar with how it works.

Also, is a Virgin Media account credit scored? Trying to keep searches down to a minimum. Last time I had an account with them, they said my bills were capped, about £100. Think this was following a search so they were only willing to let my bill go up to a certain amount (incase I was bad and ran away... lol)

My account with them was fine, so I don't see any problems joining them again?

Anybody had any experience of doing this?

I'm on the VIP package, have been for the past 2 years, but with the missus being made redundant in Jan i thought i'd see if i could lower my payments. I phone rententions i told them i was leaving for Sky because they had offered me half price for 6months which they had done via a leaflet through the door, so i gave my 30 days notice 2 weeks ago, received a call tonight and was offered the VIP package for £75, £75 credit to my account and a wireless router, so i'm happy with that. I think i could of pushed for more but the grief i've got off the missus since i told her i'm cancelling aint worth it.

    Regards

You can transfer your contract if your new house has cable, this is my understanding.

That was the point I was trying to make, but brain was in wrong gear, the important bit being "if the new house has cable available"
    Move along, nothing to see.

wow its gone up... get in there. I am tempted to cancel and sign up again but I think I may move in next 6 months.
  • Just wanted to inform you after a haggle I got A V+ for £49.

I phoned up asking how much, and was quoted £99 if I keep my existing box for another room.
After complaining that it was unfair that new customers got it for £49, and asked them what happened to their current policy for treating new and old customers fairly.
I also added that I may consider moving to Sky because I could get a free box when I buy a new TV and could get a similar package for what I was already paying (around £40 a month).

After putting me on hold, they came back to me with the £49 offer, as long as I kept the other box @ £5 a month. So there you have it.

My current deal was XLTV, L Broadband & Talk weekends.
With the V+ service and extra box is now just under £45.

I called the regular customer services upgrades line to sort this.

    Hi

I am due to have a free BT line install next week
VM rang me to ask me to stay-they offered 10meg line with phone rental for £20.95/month (assuming online billing).

He warned me that O2's traffic management would be worse than VM's
and also the maximum speed would be 6.5meg as I am 750 metres away from the exchange.

At the moment I intend paying BT £12.50/month for line rental plus £1.51/month to O2 broadband (after £70 cashback and 3 months free) for the 10 meg line for 12 months. (LLU us present)

It seems a no brainer to move to O2 but was there any truth in what he said about 02 traffic management and max speed?

    Thanks

I'd be happy with either to be honest. Unless you are really anal about P2P, I doubt you'll ever have a problem. When I say anal I mean concerned you're not getting full speed all the time when using torrents for example.
