I think it's safe to say you will get one or two calls during your 30 day notice period. I did anyway. The offer made to us from this agent was better than what we were being offered previously, even from retentions. Hopefully they'll offer you something better too. Of course, there are no guarantees and even after this better offer I chose to leave. I wasn't asking for anyting rediculous, just on par with the other providers, e.g. Sky, O2, BT. So if you are prepared with these prices and they can't match them, then don't be afraid to walk.

    Thanks.

One question is "retentions" the same as the "thinking of leaving us" option when one phones up the 0845 454 1111 number???

Yes, although I usually use 150/151 free call. It should be Cancellations Dept but they do their best to keep your business, hence Retentions.

    Thanks.

    I don't have a Virgin phone so can't use the 150 number.

The guy I spoke to when I rang the "thinking of leaving" option didn't even really try and offer me anything of note.

I'll sit tight and wait for a call back from them!
  • I rang up today and said my £10 offer had ended, I got my e-bill for £15.62...
Im on the 2 meg (M package)

Every 6 months I have to ring but im on the phone no longer than ten minutes I rang the 0845 454 1111 number and chose the thinking of leaving option...

    Then said.......

My current 6 month offer of £10 a month had expired and was told 6 months ago to ring back when it ended it get it renewed.....

No problem sir that will be done straight away :money:

    Tip-Top for another 6 months :T
  • Just been offered, L Broadband, M Phone and XL TV for £37 a month, going upto £39 a month in May with price increases. Any idea if this is a good offer or should I try for more? They seem to be working off a script, any idea how I can deviate from these. Been with them over 2 years and am currently paying £42 a month with e-billing discount for all the above.

They rang today and offered me

XL TV and XL broadband for £44 a pretty pathetic deal in my eyes at its still a substantial increase on my current deal £38 a month which I had been told was not a temporary deal.

I also note on the website they are offering XL TV, XL BB and XL phone for £40 a month for 6 months and £47 after that - equates to £43.50 a month for 12 months plus a V+ box (installation £49) - ie far better than they offered me and their offer supposedly includes a "loyalty reduction".

    What a joke.

Didn't really give me a chance to haggle - I tried a cheeky £28 month offer - expecting to go up to around £35 but they just said that was the best they could do and they would proceed with the disconnection.

Do you guys think I can expect another call before my notice period is out or is that it?

    Cheers.

Remember all prices on the website do not include the £11 telephone line rental which is a condition of getting the deal.

It seems like virgin have got more hawkish in retaining customers. My 2MB has gone upto £16 now and I gave cancellation notice. usually I got a call a few days later when I did this around 6-9 months ago but now I got something different. They sent me a letter which kind of asks me to stay but says if you want to leave then do so! Anyone else got the same response?
