Virgin Media Retention thread

Hi - just discussed a possible reduction in cost for Virgin broadband, tv and phone.Currently paying out £85 pcm for these (and the wi-fi is poor- another thread I think!).
Bt will do the same service for a saving of nearly £300 this year - and over £400 next year.
Politely asked virgin to review my costs and they offered me £7 a month off.
I pointed out that by my calcualtions for them to match BT offer, it would have to come down to £56 pcm and she said she could do £57 pcm if I gave up the tv and went to Freeview!
BT here I come. I'll save another £50-60 a year on their mobile SIM too.
Was I just unlucky with the operator I got?0 -
Just had the "loyalty department" call me. Didn't like their offer so said I will do some research and think about it.
Will they call back before cut off date?0 -

When you say bb tv and phone, could you be a little more precise ie. XL TV, M PHONE, L BB. etc.0 -
Did they put the offer in writing in your contract?0

Hi
My package went up to £57.00 per month after my loyalty discount came to an end, a £3.99 price rise and my line rental saver expired. I was getting:-
TV Large
Phone Large (Eve & Weekend Calls)
Tivo 1Tb
Broadband 50mb
Phone Line Rental
I phoned and gave them my cancellation on Thursday, they called me the next day and after a bit of negotiation we agreed on the following for £36.60 for 6 months and then £39.60 for 6 months:-
TV Large
Phone Large (Eve & Weekend Calls)
Tivo 1Tb
Broadband 100mb
Phone Line Rental (included in above cost)0 -

Hi all,
Anyone that has received a call...When the "outgoing" retentions team call, what do they announce themselves as?
i.e. "Hi, I'm Fred calling from Virginmedia Retentions"?
Just wondering as I think I have a missed call from them.
D"If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination."0 -
Think its Virgin Media Customer Loyalty or something like that.
I cant remember as I am taking a deep breath by that point ready to unleash the stats to get the better deal0 -
I've been with Virgin for over 7 years now, always managed to get a decent deal from inbound Retentions, last one was a free 1Tb TiVo and £8 off my bill. I was happy with that, as it was just before the BT sport deal, they matched sky's offer.
I'm on
TV XL
phone XL
152mb BB
1Tb TiVo
But after numerous price increases taking me up to £77 per month and then £80 at the end of March when my loyalty deal runs out, I have decided to cancel.
I gave them every opportunity, but the first call offered me TV L, 70Mb BB and evenings and weekends calls for £47
The second call offered me TV XL, 100Mbs BB & evenings and weekends calls for £69
Sky, on the other hand could offer me 50% off TV and Fibre unlimited, so I have now ordered the Family bundle, Fibre unlimited and evening and weekend calls for £49.40
However I did miss a call from Outbound Retentions today, I called back to ask them to call in the evening. I'm interested to see what they can offer me after reading this thread.0 -
I asked earlier in this thread about deals for Broadband-only (no phone line) customers.
Anyway for the top 200mb package which is currently £43pm, I was offered £38.50 by customer services initially.
It's obviously hard to negotiate because no one else competes in this space, but after giving my 30 days notice retentions did it for me for £31 which I think is a great deal, and they also threw in the Superhub 2 AC (I only had the normal one).
On the call they weren't bothered about my options, I just said it's too expensive, not that I'm heading for Sky Etc.0
