I rang up to cancel my VM and to my surprise they started making me offers straight away.

After about 4 offers I got one that was getting close to what I was asking for. (saying Sky can do it for £x seam to help)

So I asked if I could be emailed the offer so I could think about it. (A couple of years ago they did that and it was very useful! :naughty:)

I was told no, I would get a txt. The offers were added to my account.

So eventually I get the txt, and all is says is "to accept the offer as discussed reply YES" No evidence of the agreed price.

What have other people got? Prices in an email? Prices in a txt. No evidence?

Be careful with retentions, I have an issue at the moment where I agreed to a deal in November and today my bill has increased. I asked for them to listen to the call. They said they do not record so my word against theirs. Even though they admitted it is in my notes what was agreed.

I'm not a happy bunny. Saying it is the price rise but it is £11 more.

I asked for the advisor to work out what the price rise was (even though the retentions said my deal took into account the price rise so would not increase) and see if it added up to the increase - he couldn't. Said he could knock a couple of quid off, I said that was not good enough, he said "goodbye" and put the phone down:rotfl:

    BTT.

Anyone got their offer in writing ?

Yes, When I accepted it they sent through the contract. I had 14 days to refuse the new contract.

Getting it in writing before hand would be a manual process and not as accurate as having the contract in front of you.

Thanks. Yeah he did say I had 14 days to cancel. So if they send the paperwork within that time it's good

Could do with another £2 off or maybe I could ask for free caller display?

I haven't had the same luck others have had on here. I cancelled my package and waited for a call back but didn't hear a thing even though they had all my contact numbers. So a day before my cutoff I decided I had to call them. In the end I decided to reduce the package I had (was paying a whopping £90 per month for TV L, Phone XL & broadband 20mb + Sky Sports 1 and V+ Hd box).

In the end I got the Big Bang deal for £46.99 (including a discount) which means I've reduced my channels which I'm not too fussed about. But I've gained a Tivo box which I didn't have and 100mb broadband. So on the one hand I've got a deal which suits me better and I've reduced my bill by 50% but I feel like I lost the haggling battle. Also it was only after I agreed everything that I realised I was getting a £5 loyalty discount when I was previously offered £6. I don't think it's great considering how long I've been with them but I figure they knew that being on such an old package this was still a big upgrade. They also knew that I'm a high broadband user. Should I have hung on?
  • I called to cancel last month but missed a call from retentions and they didn't call back. I then put the cancellation back another month and then accepted the following offer from outbound retentions:

    XLTV
    100meg (going up to 152)
Basic phone which I don't use.

£43pm - they pay the line rental and I get a new superhub thrown in. I turned down the initial offer of £49pm as I've been with virgin 15+ yrs and was prepared to go broadband only if I didn't get a deal.
  • Well this will probably be my last update on my on-going saga with Virgin. I've had abysmal treatment in trying to re-negotiate my mothers media contract. My brother and I have decided not to go to war with Virgin over all this for various reasons, but mainly because we don't want to inflict any disruption/loss of service on our mother. This isn't the first time I've come across blatant miss-selling but I've been shocked by the behavior of in-bound retentions. They've lied to me at every turn and I have no idea why I've been singled out for this treatment. The funny thing is despite disputing my version of events and the figures offered time and time again they sent me a copy of some of the relevant conversations within 3 days of me requesting it - basically handing me a loaded gun.

So my advice to people on this thread looking for the best deals would be this - don't deal with in-bounds retentions at all, I suspect they have no authority to hand out any worthwhile deals. Just hand in your 30 days notice and put the phone down, if they try and offer you some fantastic deal just ignore it, it probably doesn't exist. Wait for out-bound retentions to get in touch, but be prepared for the fact they might not. For my mother BT was always a viable option and far cheaper than what she was paying on her old contract.

How much are people currently paying for Virgin Broadband and Telephone Weekend Calls?
I'm currently paying £26.50, and believe the increase is this month or next, so just want ideas.

If anyone is paying for Broadband only, how much?

If you have anything other than above for around the same price, that would be helpful too.

    Thanks.

 Line Rental alone is that much, nice one :T

Was looking at their current prices as normal of what I have and it was a total £36.99, I thought bloody hell, that's a huge jump, free upgrade my speed my !!!! Then looked at my bill and I was having the £10 loyalty discount which expires 28th May.
