That's a big jump from the £18 I'm paying for broadband only at the moment so I put my 30 days notice on. Will wait and see if they call back with a better offer...
As expected I got the call back and I didn't even have to haggle to keep my existing price. They put it through as the £5 discount and an additional rolling £7 a month credit for 12 months so I must remember to call back this time next year.0 -
Well my saga continues. The guy who was supposed to phone me back from retentions on Saturday sent me an email Saturday morning asking for my account number and promising to call back. I gave my account number and he didn't call. Yesterday I cancelled the package he had pushed through to start today by contacting CS (retentions was closed), and the lady promised the guy from retentions would call me today.
He didn't, so I called retentions again, and the guy I spoke to said he hadn't heard of the Big Kahuna with Movies despite it being on their Bundles homepage. He promised to check and call me back. 15 minutes later he called back and said the package was for new customers only, and all he could offer was a reduction in my broadband and remove extra v box for a £10 reduction! I was worse off than when I rang last week! I have cancelled, but have a feeling I won't get a call from them.Obviously 20 years as a customer counts for nothing!!0 -
doesn't really make any difference if you do though as you have to ask the persons permission otherwise it can't be used in a dispute.0

When Virgin outbound retentions phone you to try and keep you what number do they use? I have had calls from withheld numbers today and yesterday while I'm at work. Probably nuisance PPI calls I guess. I did give them my mobile number when i spoke to them before, but I'm guessing that if they bother phoning at all it will be on my landline.0

And the phone just rang again......and it was the Virginmedia "Loyalty Department" lol.
The guy apologised for all the crap CS I had dealt with and said he could offer me much better discounts. I explained that I was on 150Mb BB, but as I had been happy on 60MB broadband I would be happy to go down to 100MB if it got the cost down. Also said I don't want 18 month contract, and he said he only deals in 12 month contracts. Settled on the following:
100MB BB
Tivo Box with XL TV (same as I have now)
Free Weekend Calls
Free Line Rental
Keep spare V Box in bedroom
£46/month as opposed to £88.62 it costs me now. Well pleased!
Thanks for the advice visidigi!! :-)0 -

Excellent news - another satisfied 'wait for the call' cancellation customer!0 -
I rang up to cancel my VM and to my surprise they started making me offers straight away.
After about 4 offers I got one that was getting close to what I was asking for. (saying Sky can do it for £x seam to help)
So I asked if I could be emailed the offer so I could think about it. (A couple of years ago they did that and it was very useful!)
I was told no, I would get a txt. The offers were added to my account.
So eventually I get the txt, and all is says is "to accept the offer as discussed reply YES" No evidence of the agreed price.
What have other people got? Prices in an email? Prices in a txt. No evidence?0 -
Has anyone who has VM Mates Rates tried the cancellation route and secured a better deal please? I know it is supposed to be a great discount already but the price has gone up significantly over the past couple of years so that even with the discount it is expensive.
Whenever I have called to cancel I have managed to get the odd account credit, as they say their system does not allow them to change anything without Mates Rates being automatically removed, but it doesn't amount to much in the long run.
Many thanks0 -
