I'm not saying the 9 months discount is what I'm paying. I'm adding up the cost of the first 9 months and the second 9 months and dividing by 2, which would give around £69.99/month over the 18 month contract. I agree that going through the cancellation process will get me the best price if I'm there to accept the call, which I'm not most of the time. like I said, if I don't get it for the average price of £69.99 over the 18 months at worst then I'll cancel.0

So I have had to have 3 goes since first guy wasn't very helpful in offering me a good deal but today, after saying I was going to leave Virgin for Sky I was given an £18 a month saving on my bill, upgraded to 100 mgs on broadband and given all the movie channels. £50 a month total outlay now for phone, broadband, tv. Am happy 😊0

P.S. I had to go right to cancellation team to get my deal, the guy from the previous team said it is only by going to them you get best deal. They rang me back in 1 hr with my deal, initial time frame more than 48hrs! They definitely want to keep custom! He also said if I had not wanted to keep tv, he could give me 100 mgs and phone for £20 a month for a year....thats with free ev/weekend calls included0

Well almost three weeks since I cancelled and still haven't had a call back. I'm getting a little nervous. Not that there's much to be nervous about but it's hard to get the best deal if i have to go back to them with my tail between my legs begging.
The funny thing is I was bluffing about cancelling but now I'm starting to think if this is the treatment I get for being a loyal customer of 10 years or more perhaps it is time to go elsewhere.0 -
Well the saga continues for me, I contacted Retentions again last week with the intention of giving my 30 day notice and hoping outbound retentions to make me an offer (because of this I rather stupidly neglected to record the conversation), but the guy I spoke to made me a ludicrously good offer on a 12 month contract so I accepted. A few days later I found out I'd lost some sports channels he said I wouldn't lose and he bumped up the figures he quoted me anyway. Basically he lied. Virgin say they've listened to the conversation again and are backing him up so I've requested a copy but this takes 28 days and I think it arrives as a transcript which is useless anyway. They can edit it any how they want. I'll be contacting them again Monday to cancel the 'new' contract and give my 30 day notice (again). From now one every conversation I have gets recorded.
Does anyone know how quickly you can transfer your services to BT/SKY if need be? I just want to know how long I need to leave it during the 30 day period before I contact BT for a seamless transfer? Thanks.0 -

You need to contact another provider as soon as you give your month-long notice to be sure of continuity of service ..0 -
Have been a Virgin Media customer since they were Cabletel in Northarn Ireland, have been told my bill is going up to £93 in February. I have 1Tivo X, 1V+ box, XL tv package, free calls and I'm not sure of the broadband. Have rung them a few times to see what they can do for me as a customer of some standing but they are reluctant to give any discount. Can anyone give me any idea of similar deals or point me in the right direction so I can quote this when I tell them I am cancelling Thank you all in advance0

Just cancel, mate. The offers will come regardless.0
