I don't know if it's pointless unless I put my notice in though.0 -

I'm not sure why my comments are being misunderstood so much and I don't know how to be any clearer.
So I'll leave you to it...0 -
I think visidigi is just saying it's a lot less hassle to cancel the cancellation before being cut off. There's no loss to you and you can still press Virgin for a good deal because they want you off their case.0

Has anyone got any deals to share on the top range broadband-only plans?
I do this whole cancellation/retentions process with my Voda mobile phone contract every 18 months and it's super simple, however if you have broadband-only with Virgin it's very hard to negotiate with a straight face:
Me: I want to leave cos paying to much and there's a great deal with Sky etc etc
Them: Ok, that's fine, but you do realise your BB speed will drop from the current 150mb to about 17mb right? We can do you a deal on the 100mb package?
Me: Err but I want the fastest package that's only available on Virgin... [I didn't say this obviously, but you can see the logical dead-end here]
Fibre is available elsewhere I know but only Virgin do it without line rental, which means they kind of have a captive market in a sense, especially if you want the highest speeds like I do.
So if I just cancel, will they still offer me a better deal if I say it's too expensive etc? They've offered £38 for 200mb but that's still too pricey for my liking.0 -

You cant have your cake and eat it.
They know they have the best internet product and they know in the +76mb they cant be touched in general. Which is one of the reasons they price match to the nearest product at 100mbs
To be honest, I havent seen many discounts in this space and I think based on your posts you know exactly why.
If its too expensive for your liking then go to Sky. You will be back (I am dreading the thought of moving out of a VM area into the BT world later this year :mad:0 -
someone has posted "be prepared to loose your services for a while" whilst others say "you can leave it till 29 days & just cancel, which is it?0

You call on day 29 and cancel the cancellation in the rare event they do not call you back
There is no risk to a loss of service if you follow this process.0 -

That's the whole point though, I don't want to go to Sky. If it was too expensive I'd just drop down to a cheaper VM package, I have no need for TV, phone line Etc.
They do decent discounts on BB-only, I've had one for the last few years. I'm just trying to establish what anyone else is paying for the top packages so I know what I may be able to get.0 -
if you hand in your 30 day notice looking for a good deal is it imperative to contact/sign up with Sky/BT to get the ball rolling as it were or will Virgin retentions contact you anyway?0
