This means losing the hd box we have, but we haven't used this in forever. The only channel I don't want to lose from the current big kahuna bundle is BT Sport.
I am thinking about this as currently paying £76, it will be £80 with the price rise. I like TIVO and realize others can't offer this technology. However there is a chance I will be moving within 12 months so I would essentially be gambling on Virgin increasing prices again and giving me a get out of jail free card.
I also wondered if people were aware of this https://recombu.com/digital/article/ofcom-cuts-broadband-rates---will-consumers-benefit_M10103.html
Prices TO providers are going down so why are they increasing prices?
Also a quick search of topcashback reveals Virgin and BT will pay around £115 to get a new customer. Has anyone had any success mentioning this in negotiations?
Article is from 2012.
Virgin has a separate network to BT.
Sometimes mentioning cashback has resulted in a free month being credited,but its not matched in whole in general as its only for new customers anyway.0 -
:j:)
Rang and cancelled on Monday and Wednesday night I had the phone call and, to cut a long story short, agreed on free line rental, new router installed free of charge and £40 account credit
This is for 100mb Broadband
XL TV (TIVO)
Additional recordable box upstairs
Weekend calls
Monthly cost £43 for six months going up to £46
Many thanks for your help and guidance Visidigi :j0 -

No worries, glad they sorted you out with a better deal!
Thanks for the thanks!0 -
Currently on:
* 100Mb broadband
* XL Phone
* M TV
for £55 a month - told Virgin that I saw a similar offer for £37 so I'm leaving, and they gave me a closedown date of 21st February.
Er, somebody from retentions will phone me back, right?0 -

Hang in there
You have NOTHING to lose - you can call back at any point in the 30 day notice period and cancel it.
Its really that easy0 -

Be prepared to lose your services for a period...0 -

Eh?
He's put the cancellation request in. He waits for the call.
On day 29 if the call hasn't come in then he can call back, cancel the cancellation and there will be no downtime whatsoever.
The only thing lost will be that he will be limited to the offers given by the retention team he would have to call.0 -
Well after missing my call back from retentions twice after cancelling I caught them friday night.
100MB broadband
xl tv
evening and weekend calls
£50 A month for 12 months and they paid the line rental.
visidigi I think it was you who mentioned pages back not to pay the line rental saver get them too! thanks for that.
I was actually quite close to going to BT but the set up charge made theirs more over the year. Plus the bt line in is showing a lot of copper so would have needed replacing etc.0 -
