Hi,
I have been reading through these posts with interest.
I am currently on a 'Big Kahuna' package with 200mb BB, plus line rental. I do not use the phone line whatsoever, I don't have a phone plugged in, so I was wondering if it was possible to get them to knock this off the price at all?
Has anyone managed to do this?
Thanks :beer:0 -
there are certainly a few people getting free line rental offers at the moment, myself included so its certainly worth trying. I know that they best deals used to require taking all 3 services but I dont know if thats still the case. Best thing to do is phone and ask - if you dont get a good deal just say you want to cancel and wait for a call back from the rententions team.0

Keep the phone - but push for the fact you never use it and you begrudge paying line rental on something you don't use. I use this line every year and it hasn't failed me yet.
My current bundle should be £125 - I am paying £85.

That's OK - free line rental probably not offered on the lowest package.0

What are people's experiences with 2nd offers from outbound retentions? I received a call after giving notice but declined the offer as it was still more expensive than a quote from sky. VM also wanted to downgrade part of my package as part of that offer. That was nearly two weeks ago and I've not received any other calls from retentions. How long after a first offer do they usually wait before making another? (if indeed they actually do). Looks as though I might be off to Sky after all.0

Rang retentions yesterday and was offered a reduced rate of £60 for six months, after which I think it was around £64. This means losing the hd box we have, but we haven't used this in forever. The only channel I don't want to lose from the current big kahuna bundle is BT Sport.
I am thinking about this as currently paying £76, it will be £80 with the price rise. I like TIVO and realize others can't offer this technology. However there is a chance I will be moving within 12 months so I would essentially be gambling on Virgin increasing prices again and giving me a get out of jail free card.
I also wondered if people were aware of this https://recombu.com/digital/article/ofcom-cuts-broadband-rates---will-consumers-benefit_M10103.html
Prices TO providers are going down so why are they increasing prices?
Also a quick search of topcashback reveals Virgin and BT will pay around £115 to get a new customer. Has anyone had any success mentioning this in negotiations?Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
had a call this Monday offering me the same service for £18.25/month (£10 discount for 12 months) with 12 month minimum term.VoucherMan wrote: »Service Cancelled! I'll miss them if I don't get a better offer, but at that price I'll do without, or move to Plusnet fo £18 a month.
Had the call back from retentions today. Offered £18.25 for 12 months.
I queried if this was actually '£18.25 for 12 months', or just a £10 a month discount, and was assured this takes into account the forthcoming increase, so the bill will remain at £18.25 for the full duration.
Time will tell...
That should make my deal a little better than somnus'0 -
My £10 discount expired on the current bill so I called for a deal. Best they "could" offer me was £5 off the current price of £30 on a 12 month contract. That's a big jump from the £18 I'm paying for broadband only at the moment so I put my 30 days notice on. Will wait and see if they call back with a better offer...0

I've never needed them to call me back with a better offer after the first call.
It does sound like you might be off to Sky...0
