So yesterday's best offer was £54, but today you agreed to £60????

Or are you saying you've now cancelled completely?

    Apologies for not being clear.

I cancelled it today, was on the phone for 40 minutes and the retentions chap was rude!

The difference being £54 yesterday was excluding line rental. £60 today was including line rental.

    100mb BB
    XL tv (no sky sports)
    evening and weekend calls
    Line rental
    £60

I don't really want to pay that when BT can offer everthing for £46 including line rental. I know their fibre's not as quick but my pc is connected via powerline adapters so I do not get 200 to my computer anyway.

I would try for a better offer as I am on the same as you but with anytime calls for £50 with no price increase this year.

Don't bank on an email confirmation it means nothing,I got an email confirmation off a senior retentions manager a few years back Guaranteeing my deal for as long as i stayed with Virgin it lasted 12 months then price went up and was told no way she should have sent it.I did argue but didn't get anywhere. So now i record every phone call with Virgin staff because i don't trust them.

Not sure how they would stand in a court of law with that. You have an email confirming a deal which they then break. I think you win in a court case... if you could be bothered.

It probably wouldnt come to that - they would just do it if they dont want a court case.
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:

Got a deal today. All in all took 1.5 hours on the phone. To be fair not much of a saving as I am paying £55 per month for the same package at the moment. But, that would have increased to £72.50 at the end of February, when the contract ends.

XL broadband - upgraded to 200mb today.
    XL TV
    Basic phone
    £114 upfront line rental

    £44 a month. 12 month contract

You paid line rental which means thats an inbound retentions deal you've done.

Don't post deals you do with the retentions team you call - they simply AREN'T the deals we should be discussing here!

You MUST cancel and wait for the call back to get the deals!

Maybe so, but have you seen a better deal at the moment than what I've been given? I've looked through the forum over the last few months and nothing.

No, because hardly anyone seems to actually do the right thing to get the right deals.

But those who I've helped away from this board - 6 people in the last two months, none have needed to pay line rental - That's a significant saving per month there...
  • Just a quick question visidigi. If you manage to get the line rental free doesn't it mean it's a temporary freebie? If I got it taken off wouldn't I then have to haggle for it every year? Whereas if I get a deal on the overall package isn't that more permanent? Or am I wrong?

I cancelled my package a few weeks ago and am awaiting a call back.
