Eeek ! have put my cancellation in as I got the same story as Chimpofdoom, but what if they don't call back !??

They will.. it's an 0800 number. One of my colleagues did the same thing, had a call back (but didn't answer), but they'll prob call back again (he does this every year)
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
  • Chimpofdoom I was offered the same i.e Big Kahuna with sky sports or movies 1/2 price for 9 months @ £60.32 a month. I declined too but I haven't had a call back and that was almost two weeks ago. I'm not panicking yet but it seems strange you got a quick call. I'm a real longtime customer and I've never haggled previously with Virgin so maybe they think I'm bluffing. (little do they know I've already got another deal lined up). i didn't think a 9 month deal at that price was good enough. Did they still add the Sports or Movies?

hope they do as no-one matches (or comes close) for broadband speed where we are so we are pretty stuck with them.

Hmmm that's odd, just keep playing their bluff?

In regards to still getting sky sports/movies, nope. I'm basically getting what I have, discounted

Well they called me back within 24hrs.

Gone from £80 pcm to £49 pcm (inc line rental) for 12 months (12 month contract):
    100M bb
XL TV - Tivo + V HD box
    Weekend calls

    Quite happy with that!

Well done - proves the value of the cancel and wait.

As for those worried they arent gettign called - they tried me three times at home, without trying my mobile this year - 11am, 4pm and 6pm.

It seems the process is possibly automatic in who they dial. like choosing from a list to an extent...

The REALLY important thing to do is - do your research.

The research is key to getting a great deal instead of a good deal.

Had my call (on mobile) from retentions and I explained that I wasn't happy paying £50 for the package and that both Sky and BT both have far superior offers around £40. They have offered to pay the line rental again this year:

    TV M
    BB 50Mb
    Phone XL
    Multitalk 1000
    £31.49/month

Haven't agreed yet - they are going to call back on thursday and I'll try and get a little more......

I called up this afternoon to enquire as to when the increase would happen. Currently on Vivid 152 + M phone. I was offered, without any prompting, £9 loyalty discount taking my broadband to £23 a month for 12 months, with the discount applying for 18months. I also renewed my landline upfront for £164. Pretty happy!

    My broadband only retention deal:

From May last year my bill for 50MB rose from £15.50 steadily to £28.25 this month. I called last Friday to cancel and had a call this Monday offering me the same service for £18.25/month (£10 discount for 12 months) with 12 month minimum term.

Lucky you. I just phoned and all I was offered was a £3 discount, to £25.25.

Service Cancelled! I'll miss them if I don't get a better offer, but at that price I'll do without, or move to Plusnet fo £18 a month.

If you had gone through with cancellation and awaited the call back there would have been a good chance of you not needing the spend anything on line rental...

The best deals are when the retentions team calls you back..
