  • I have BB only. My price for the 50MB went up from £16.50 to £18.25. I have a discount until Feb. Wasn't notified of the increase so I complained. The bloke at the other end said we emailed you and there was nothing i could do about it.

I cancelled and wasn't offered anything a couple of days ago. Was told the best they could do would be £25 pm going forward.

I got a call today and the bloke would offer me £20.50 per month with one free month. When I explained this was more than I was paying with the increase he couldn't understadn this and wouldn't budge.

What's the best anyone with only BB (50mb) managed to get pricewise recently?

  • Mysteriously after my conversation yesterday afternoon I received an email informing me I'd added 'Asian Mela' to my TV package bumping my monthly outlay to £113. I've never added anything using my TiVo before so I'm stumped as to how that happened. I phoned this morning to get it removed. I know nothing about this side of my package and just wanted to check it didn't constitute a new contract or anything, I'm super paranoid these days after getting slammed by Orange for a mobile contract I never asked for.

Similar to above poster, I'm paying £3.50 for BB + line rental, so in the £17ish ballpark.

Also, I complained to them about the price increase - my bill going up to £5.99 / month - he waived the extra charge of £2.49 / month for the remainder of my contract by crediting it to my account in a lump sum so I'll effectively still be paying £3.50 for the next 11 months + line rental (which I pay up front every year @ £164).

I find being direct yet courteous when talking to them helps (and making sure it's retentions you speak with). Also mention the price still isn't good enough should get it down a bit.

Hope it helps and you get something you're happy with.
  • Hello!

So over the last few months I been noticing my monthly pricing increasing (from £37 - £60+) as my loyalty discount began to fade off the account. Today i opened the £3.99 price hike increase starting from feb. I phoned the cancellations line where he done nothing but tell me that no one else would be able to provide me with 100-150mbps yes which is true but i would like to add this is only achievable through a wired connection - anyhow that aside; I've given my 30 days notice!

So now its the waiting game! It worked for me last year. If anyone's had any success please do let me know. I would like to add don't forget anyone in a contract who has received a price hike you're eligible to cancel without paying a fee due to ofcom rules so don't be afraid!

    Currently pay £60

    Phone XL unlimited calls
    TV L
BB 100mbps - (just upgraded to 150 via the free upgrade plan)

    Thanks! :)
  • After receiving the price rise letter and paying £30 a month for 152MB broadband and £13.67 for line rental gave notice of cancellation and manager to get broaband upgraded to 200mb and discounted down to £21.50 a month for 18 months

So overal £8.50 a month saving (on first attempt)

M+ is just freeview with recording.

Each to there own though - Wouldn't personally have dropped the XL TV.
  • Was going to be on £86.17 a month after price rise for TV XL, Talk unlimited and 30 meg b-band with the old vm box plugged in upstairs. (£1034.04 anual) Phoned and asked directly for retentions and had an enjoyable and friendly bit of fun, trying to get Virgin to send me money for using their service. Plenty of chutzpah. Blamed it all on Richard, needing the extra money for Grecian 2000. The lady that I was talking to said she had enjoyed the banter. I paid the rental up front £164 and the new bill is £55.00 a month with everything the same except b-band which is bumped up to 100 meg (£824.00 anual). This gives a £210 saving, threefold b-band boost and £5.70 credit from the new contracts overlap with the old one. There is only downside. I f I am ever up Gateshead way, apparently I owe the lady a pint and a bouquet of flowers.
