We have 4 months before our Virgin BB is out of contract. I am wondering if its worth trying to get our BB a little lower.

Shouldnt complain really, last time we haggled we reduced the cost to £21.50 for 50mb a month. I'd like to get it down to £16 a month if its possible. What do you think?

Was out of contract and discount was coming to an end so I rang the retentions team to see what they can do for me... but they were giving me a deal that was more than what i was paying for (while the discount was still on)! i argued that its not good enough and have been with them since they were NTL and also there are cheaper deals for new customers....but was told that the best they can do is match the current price i would be on with the discount!

Regardless to say i have asked to cancel everything... Have people actually had any luck with the outbound retentions team and how long was it after you cancelled that they called?
I cancelled on the 10th and retentions rang on 13th they rang me on my mobile and after i accepted the deal as i posted earlier £1-50p a month up but up 50mb to 100mb.I'm very happy at the price,When they put the price up in February £4-68 ish i rang and got £20 credit and £5 a month off my mobile deal so finished up slightly better off.So all in all i'm about £1 a month worse off but an extra 50mb bb.After i agreed the deal i told the retentions guy ring me at home in 20 minutes so i can record the conversation and he did.I always record virgin conversations they lie through there teeth.

I would wait till 1 month before it ends. You will be in a much better position.

When my discount is coming to an end I just ring them and ask them to put it back on, haven't had any issue yet

and if a new customer deal is better they have always matched it, haven't threatened to cancel or anything
  • Just rang to get new deal:
Kept: TV XL, 500G Tivo, XL Phone package and BT Sports

    Also got:
BB upgraded from 50 to 100Megs
extra V+ box for bedroom with free install
    one off £50 back
    3 months free Sky Sports
    inc Line rental
also backdated for 1 month when my old retention deal ended

For £56 per month for 6 months then £63.

Sounds like an ok deal. Probably could have cancelled then haggled further with retentions but this was all done on line with a representative in one go. Took about an hour to get there though
    Debts: Virgin Card [STRIKE]£5,600[/STRIKE] £5,636, First Direct [STRIKE]£7,700[/STRIKE] £7,000, Halifax [STRIKE]£3,200[/STRIKE] £3,810, Halifax Clarity [STRIKE]£755[/STRIKE] £711, Tesco [STRIKE]£4,005[/STRIKE] £4,450, MNBA [STRIKE]£6,700[/STRIKE] £6,580, Loan [STRIKE]£15,834[/STRIKE] £15,218 Total: [STRIKE](45K at highest) £43,794k[/STRIKE] £43,405

    Hi

I have just called to cancel - they never offered me anything! I think it was because the package was low already. They let me cancel. I wish to put it in writing - does anyone know the address to write to? I found one on here but it was from 2007 - would it be the same one?

    Thanks in advance

Have you not received an email confirming your cancellation request? I called to cancel yesterday, nothing offered and received email confirming my request just after the call.
