I assume line rental and service charge was included. Sometimes some of the deals I see here seem to good to be real.

Hoping I get a call back with a decent deal.

    Yes line rental included
  • Not sure if this is a good or bad deal...

Was paying £26.14 a month for 50mbps broadband and M phone. This was inclusive of an £8 loyalty discount that's due to expire at the end of November.

I contacted VM via their online chat service and mentioned I was thinking of leaving - they offered me the same package for £24.49 (12 month contract with a discount for 18 months)

On the same now. Incredible deal.

What are you comparing it to when speaking to retentions? Nothing from sky/plusnet/BT comes close to that deal - they could double the price and it still beat everyone?

I'm leaving and retentions won't go anywhere near that price for the big kahuna package...
  • No one should have to send personal messages in order to receive retention deals from Virgin (or any other supplier).

If users see another poster inviting PMs in order to receive a deal then I suggest they ignore the entreaty as, not only is this against forum rules, it means the poster concerned is likely going against Virgin terms and conditions too.

Make no mistake, there is nothing altruistic about this "offer", the poster will receive a "reward" from Virgin Media.

And reading through the deleted posts it appears the user concerned is well aware that this is not the area for referrals , that includes saying "pm me" or " look at my post on referrals "

Neither of the above is allowed outside the referrals section

I called today and agreed to 100mb BB, TV M and Phone M for £16pm with an £80 credit. This works out at about £21.33pm when you factor in the line rental saver.

As new customer I got from loyalty team:
152mb broadband ,Phone Talk included & anytime free calls 1tb Box,Extra HD Box, Big Kahuna package, BT Sport, Netflix(6Mths) 12 Month Contract, Free Install

If you pay the L/Rental upfront (£144) its only £20 per month otherwise £33.
So the difference between paying the line rental saver and not paying it is just £1? If so, people with Santander 123 current accounts would be better off not paying the line rental saver because they earn more cashback and get to keep hold of their money for longer.

Also, I'm guessing this is an outbound deal? When I called them today, the rep couldn't find it the deal despite spending absolutely ages trying to find it.

    Its a loyalty deal.

How is the difference £1? Its more than that.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Without the line rental saver, it would be £48.99pm, and with the line rental saver, it's £32pm.

What I meant by outbound is that Virgin has two departments: the inbound team is the one who answers when you call Virgin, the outbound team is the one that calls you once you've booked a cancellation. The two departments often have different deals. So I was just wondering whether you called them to get this offer or did they call you?

The deal that unknown and dildeep have are not retentions deals at all. It is a specific deal that you can get as a new or out of contract customer for which you have to be referred (which is banned in this section). In addition, it is £18 a month with line rental upfront.

shayr1992 is correct, the deal we got is not a retention deal. You can't call the outbound team. it works via referal, so the outbound team recieves your name and calls you.
