You can get 10 months for £150 upfront- so not that decent given you will be on a 12month contract

Its a rolling 30 day for the offer. And for the season ticket I would need to upgrade my bundle.

Talked my Mum into giving notice on Monday as her bill had gone up to just under £60. They rang today and offered to keep all her services the same (TV large, phone talk anytime and broadband) for £40, upgrading broadband to 50mb and changing box for free to a Tivo next week.

She is happy with the better price without compromising on her package.

  • Hi, first post here.

I presently have Phone XL (unlimited), TV XL with Tivo and 30mbps BB (recently upgraded after a moan to 50mbps). I presently pay around £78 per month, having gone up from around £62 per month in May 2014 (expiry of loyalty discounts).

    I have been a NTL-VM customer for 10-15 years.

I have had a moan up with them about the deal and also about email issues and slow BB. I have in fact cancelled and my disconnection date is 8 October. I have had indifferent treatment from customer services who do not seem bothered.

I have today contacted them via their online chat to have a moan up. I got a different, apologetic response and they have offered to credit my account with £33 (roughly 3 months of £11 expired discount) as a gesture of goodwill, keep my package the same but increase BB to 100 mbps and reduce it to £65 per month if I sign up to a new 12 month contract.

Question: should I stay or should I go?

Bonzer Brad depends what you want and if you are happy with that price and the services you have. Do a comparrison on what the competitors offer to gauge if the price is one you are happy with and assess if you need what you have got, do you use the phone much, watch the channels you have?

  • Just spoke to VM via online chat. Currently pay £26.50 pm for 30mb and told them that I was looking to leave. Was instantly offered either £19.50 for 50mb or £24.50 for 100mb. I took the £19.50 offer as looking to save money.

Just goes to show that if you speak to them and threaten to leave then you get something back. They obviously don't want to loose business.

I didnt think I would get anything to be honest as I only have BB with them. So anyone who is currently with VM with just BB then get onto them and get dome discount applied to your account. "If you don't ask, you don't get!"

I had to tie into a new 12 month contact, however the discount runs for 18 months.
  • I was seriously intending to cancel my VM - have broadband only costing £26 odd p mth, Rang them and didnt even go to retensions as was offered £15 pm, new superhub and 50 mg so i decided to stay
  • I just found out that I have been out of contract for a few months. I tried to haggle for a better deal but was told that I already had loyalty discount and they could not get it down any further.

I am paying £47.61 for Essentials collection and
have 50mb broadband, TV Med+ with 500mb Tivo box and phone Talk Weekends. I am happy with what I have so dont really want to increase anything but am looking for a reduction for the current package. Should I ring back and try again for a better deal?:money:

  • Has anyone been offered a decent deal by the retention department recently? I handed in my 30 day notice yesterday so am awaiting the call. I've researched other companies deals to use that information. I currently have

    Tivo M Package
    50mb BB
    M Phone

I've just noticed that my virgin contract ended last month, we are paying £107 per month for the Premier Collection:

    XL TV
    XL Broadband
    Sky Sports 1 and 2
    Skyprem HD
    Talk Weekends
    TiVo
    1 Aditional V Box

Does anyone have anything similar? I'd quite like to be able to say that someone I know pays X amount, so we'd like a reduction.
