Could you give a rough idea of what you pay each month now for just the 120 mb service ?

We currently have the 60 meg download service, were going up to 120 meg, the cost is usually £37.50 a month but we will get a "loyalty" discount. .... If I remember correctly we will now be paying £26 a month for the 120meg download

Our previous package had a " friends" discount which was why we kept it a long even though we didn't watch tv we thought he that's not too bad a price, but with the £5.50 extra it just crossed that line for us

    HTH :)
  • My package with Virgin is £28.68 per month. This is the break down of my package :- Talk unlimited
    Broadband (up to 20mb)
    Loyalty Pack BB/Phone
    Total bundle charges £13.69

    Phone line rental £14.99

    Total £28.68
I dont have a tv package, just broadband and phone, am I paying too much?

    Yes. Ring up retentions.
  • As a newbie and reading the threads I am astounded at the miriad of prices, various random price increases and loyalty discounts that are "available" - ie to be worked / haggled for. It makes the energy firms with their pricing tariffs seem like !!!!!cats, albeit fat ones.

Clearly, and sadly, it appears to be a case of every one for themselves. This in turn expanding fruitless hours of wasted resources for both customer and supplier.

There has got to be a better way!!!
Apologies if I have gone OT - just gobsmacked by it all.

Rang up retentions and managed to get the monthly payment down from £7 to £2.50 a month until Feb (then £4.50/month) by dumping the free evening calls we don't even use. That's for 30mb broadband and basic phone, with 250 free 0845/0870 minutes.

I'll always end up finding people who have a better deal, but it's good to be have a settled price for another year!
  • Well just had a call out of the blue asking me if I knew about the price rise. I mentioned I was aware that my deal also ran out in Feb. He said he could look to offer me a deal.

Currently paying £81 so wanted the same services...he came back with a deal of £113 :rotfl:
When I told him why would I stay if I am going to pay nearly 50% extra and "is that meant to be a deal" so eventually he came back with the following which includes the price rise. Which I am happy with (BB is only used for surfing so more than I need speedwise and not sure if will also be upgraded in May)

    Bundle charges Talk 08 2
    Talk Unlimited
    Fully Itemised Billing
    Free Voicemail
    T V Size: X L
    Additional V Box
    V+ HD Monthly Fee
    TiVo Monthly Fee
    Extra Set Top Box Discount
    Broadband L (up to 30Mb)
    Bundle charges total £35.30

Promotional offer(s) Loyalty Offer £5 off 6 months
    Promotional offer(S) total £5.00CR

Phone line rental Telephone Line Rental
    Phone line rental total £14.99

Premium add-ons Digital Sky Movie Max
    Digital Sky Movie Premier
    Digital Sky Sports 1
    Digital Sky Sports 2
    Premium add-ons total £34.25

    New monthly package total* £79.54
  • After calling up and getting nowhere I gave notice of termination, fully expecting retentions to call and they didn't. Service disconnected and no tv or internet.
Dug out the old email address of the retentions guy I dealt with last year and he got back to me with xl tv, 1g tivo box, hd box in other room, 60mb broadband and line rental for £15.99 per month for 6 months and £67.99 per month for remaining 6 months. I am happy with that, at least until this time next year.
