Oh dear. Well I suppose you could say they provided good customer care as they did exactly what you requested. What do you propose to do now?

    Colin

Had a quick look at broadband only offers but nothing tempted me yet. Browsing on the phone is very tedious and just keeping an eye out on hot uk deals for new offers.

Thanks, i have checked and im a 18m contract. With this in mind not possible to call i take it?

no, call and cancel! Price rise allows you to simply reject the changes and to cancel without penalty.

called in my cancellation with VM tonight - as a 9 year customer I flat out refuse to pay installation charges. Hoping to get the deal they offered minus the 'extra charges'

    Time will tell...

I have been with Virgin for years and had a discounted package with:
Line rental (I didnt have a phone plugged in)
    Tv med with Tivo
    60mb broadband

I was on discounted rate of £27 which was great.
This expired and I noticed I was now paying £46. I dont really use the tv and dont use the phone at all so called to negotiate a deal.
To cut a long story short they couldnt offer me anything really and the guy basically rubbished all their competitors which annoyed me. I explained that I didnt want to hear from him how bad hs competition was but what he could offer me.
I ended up giving notice of cancellation which has become an annual pantomime we as customers seem to have to endure. Four weeks on and no call from retentions and my service terminated. Nice customer care Virgin!

Did you introduce yourself as Mr Angry :p

Can't you just sign up as a new customer and take advantage of their offers or do you not want to go with VM again?

I am not sure whether I can as read somewhere that you were not a new customer until three months had elapsed.
I am quite annoyed with their attitude mind you as it is they who started all this cancell and we call you with a better deal rigmaroll and now they dont seem to call back.

So the process is, call then cancel and wait for them to call you with a offer to stay?

Then when they don't, you can look forward to carp ADSL BB and slower speeds. They've seen it all before! The slash and burn approach only works if you are going to something better.

Thats very true, but they make the rod for their own back on this one.

The trick here is give them what you want, in detail, asked them to note it down. And be clear.

When the outbound team go through if they see you as a high revenue and are willing to be clear and reasonable then they call.

If they see you asking for BB for 50p they simply won't bother.
  • You could be waiting a very long time as they never called me back.
