  • Hi I was just hoping to get some help

    I have currently

tv - m with tvio hd box
    bb 30mb with superhub
    home phone m

the tv and the home phone never get used as I have sky and prefer sky
and we have mobiles with a very good deal so that is why landline is never used, but at the time i got a cheaper deal with all three for the first 6 months all free.
I use to pay 36.99 a month got that down a little and now pay £28 a month including line rental saver

I put in a cancellation but still waiting for the outbound team to call

they do offer the best service in the area for but i got fed up as they kept charging me install charge when they kept offering freebies. twice now and rang soo many times to get the bills corrected. 3 times for the last incorrect charge and that is when I put my cancellation request in.

Do you think I can get more off or I got no chance? And will the outbound team really call me?

I also have sky but I like sport so changed from the virgin media to BT infinity (38mb) which cost £15 per month plus BT sport free on sky. Line rental works out at £11.75p per month if paid in advance. If you change use Quidco as good cashback and also BT offer £50 or £100 spend at Sainsbury.

Anyone got any good deals on BB and TV only on VM? I know they offer discounts for three service bundles, and I have one now, but a third of what I pay is line rental.

I can get a year of Vonage for £60 and also port my Virgin Number to it - add in the cash back and its an absolute bargain. I just wondered if anyone had negotiated a better deal on two products without the phone - I'm already waiting for sky to come back and confirm my cancellation request with them (hoping to get an extension of my half price deal :) )
  • Just rang up and gave my notice, from the price rise. Its fine, 30 days notice accepted. I am on 60 Meg and talk umlimited, (could be tempted to drop the phone as we only use it as its there). Lat year i was paying £28.50. At the end of the contract they wouldnt offer a better deal, so i took the £28.50 as offered again.

I thought they would offer a deal but they never so told them to carry out the disconnection.Told them i will get TESCO broadband and they used samknows to tell me i would get something like7 meg)

Feel like i either accept the price rise or take the poor speeds offered elsewhere...

Don't rush let them stew for a couple of weeks they only offer a better deal if they actually think your going to leave.
  • I would like some advice on whether Virgin are telling me porkies and which way to go with my situation.

I phoned to cancel (I have BB, phone, tv) my services as I am out of contract. I listened to all the excuses of how bad Sky are, I won't get signal in the winter due to snow on sky dishes, fibre bb is rubbish blah blah. I did ask her to look back on my history of the 10 engineer visits in the past 18mths due to poor service so said it surely couldn't be any worse.

Anyway, she offered me £5 off for 6 mths but that was the best she could do so I declined and agreed to cancel in 30 days. The advisor asked if I wanted to keep my number when I move providers, I said yes, she then said she could not cancel down my phone package then as I would lose my number and it would cancel down when my new provider requested it changing over.

Can I ask if anybody knows if this will stop an outbound retentions call as I do not remember this last time. I seem to remember asking for cancellation of all my services but I may be wrong. I have had a retentions call everytime so far.

Any advice would be great, I am currently looking at all my options including BT and Sky. We are a family who have extra boxes in bedrooms and we may want to add on sports if possible but with Virgin it works out really expensive to add it on.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends what company you go with. Do a comparison, and take it from there. I used USwitch, and some providers offered keeping the current number, whilst others couldn't.

Isn't that a breach of the data protection act?
