  • Does anybody have a good offer for XL BB, XL TV, M Phone and V+ that I could try for?

    Thank you :)
    I just got this

    My previous package was
    B/B - M
    TV - XL
    V+ Box
    Std Phone pack

    Total per month £40

Phoned and said I wanted to cancel and they offered

    B/B - M
    TV - XL
    V+ Box
    Free eve's + w/ends calls

    All for £36.20 inc E-Billing

Had to pay a one off charge of £30 to stop the £10 V+ tax though, which is what it would have cost me overall to swap to Sky, and is £45 better than the donkey I spoke to yesterday
Plus, it'll stay at that rate as long as I have my V+ box

  • Virgin Media appear to be very willing at present to negotiate...

I was paying £75 a month for "L" broadband, "free at weekends" phone, XL TV, Movies, V+

new customers get "XL" broadband, "Free all times phone", and same XL tv and movies for £75....

just sent them an email via their customer zone site, suggested i was moving house soon and might not take them with me.

48 hours later - email confirming package had been upgraded....new bill received today confirms £75 for twice as much broadband and free phone calls all week...

    job is a good one.

    Tj.
  • Hiya your thoughts would be appreciated

We currently have Broadband and Phone with Virgin Media (£41-£47 per month), and TV with Sky (£50 per month). I'm happy with Sky TV and don't really want to change but I do want to try and save some money with Virgin Media.

As the phone is with Virgin we can't swap to any other broadband provider (am I right? Sky told me I had to have a BT Line)

There has not been a BT line at this house, so it looks like if I swap to BT they will charge £122.33 connection fee (from their website), which I can't afford to pay for upfront anyway. We hardly ever use the phone and if we do, then it's to ring 0845 or 0870 numbers.

We're currently paying £25 per month for broadband, and surely I can get a better deal elsewhere?

I'm wondering whether I would be better telling Virgin I am thinking of leaving, or calling their bluff and ringing saying I am leaving them - would it make any difference to what they offer me?

Is there any other broadband suppliers I can switch to without having to get a BT Line installed?

    Thanks for any answers

£25 for the BB, the phone line should £11 that's £36 what else are you paying for?

That package is now £20+£11 at full price anyway.

2mb BB with phone should be under £20.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

I am currently living with my parents who have Virgin Media phone and cable television. I have an account with just Large Broadband which is £25 per month.

This price seems to be very expensive considering all the deals with TV and Phone and the deals from other companies.

Would it be worth me trying to negotiate a new deal? Either a cheaper monthly rate or my parents upgrading to TV, Phone and Broadband and me cancelling...?
  • Hi Everyone,

I am currently a VM customer, I have phone with free evenings a weekend calls, caller display and medium broadband. I also have sky tv (6 mix) and multi room for £32 per month. I was tring to get sky+ for free but the best they would offer was 49 + 60 instalation, so i rang vm.

First time i called i was offered

    V+ Box (75 install)
    Multiroom - £5
    XL TV
    Same phone + BB

All for £41. I though this was good so told them to go ahead as is still less than what I am paying now. I called sky to cancel they offered me sky+ for £49 (no install fee) So i called VM back.

    This time i got

    V+ Box
    Multiroom
    XL TV
    10mb BB
    Phone + evenings/weekend calls
    Free caller display
    £20 good will gesture

All still for £41 per month. Does this look like a good deal?? i'm quite pleased as i am only paying £55 for install and do not need to pay it upfront as it comes out of next bill.

Also what are peoples views on v+ box, i've read alot of mixed reviews some have said that it is really slow compared to the sky boxes, is that true??

    Thanks for any help

I've currently got XL Broadband (20mbits) and am moving house. I pay £37/month.

I also wanted TV and V+. I've been offered L Broadband (10mbits), L TV and V+ for the same price (£37/month). Also have to pay £75 one off installation fee and have to get a 12 month contract. The house move is free though.

    Does that sound reasonable?
  • I called today threatening to leave.

    I currently have
    M Phone
    L Broadband
    L TV

    For £37 per month.

I am now going to be getting
    M Phone
    L Broadband
    XL TV with V+

    For £44 per month.
I also got them down to £50 on the installation for the V+ box, it's coming off my bill so I don't even need to pay up front. All the HD cables are installed and the box has a lifetime guarantee. Free callouts too.

    I'm really pleased.

I think I'll call retentions and see what they can do. I called the house move dept before. I've been with them for 7-8 years so hope they gimme a better deal.

My tip is just to ask. This forum made me realise that you can push them into giving you a good deal. So just be clear you want a good deal or you're going. I told them that if they got me a good deal, I'd sign up straight away. They're really nice in the retentions team also.

    Some other things sold themselves.
The V+ box stores double the amount a Sky+ box can. Unlike Sky+, the V+ box has a lifetime warranty too and they provide free callouts.
They were honest and said they can't match Sky for HD channels at the moment, but that doesn't bother me as I haven't been able to afford an HD TV yet anyway. When I can, they'll probably have a better selection.
