It's actually free to connect to BT at the moment if you take an 18 month line rental agreement.

Wow, thanks for that, another £29.35 saved  Is that something they'll just offer? Or is it a special deal?

my only worry is the useability of the service i will get... having got used to the luxury of a 20meg line, how will i get on with an 'up to' xx ADSL? Still, the first requirement is to save the cash, so I'll be calling up BT today.

The £122.33 price is due to the 2.1-ish% reduction due to the VAT dropping from 17.5 to 15%. £124.99 the price it was when VAT was at 17.5% - at least they have passed on the VAT reduction.

You could look at https://www.bethere.co.uk for broadband.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Of course, that makes sense. I did look at Be - same company as O2 - but I am already a contract O2 mobile customer so I can save some cash each month because of that. £9.79 for the premium 'up to' 16meg package.

On calling Virgin to cancel they offered me the same as I am on now for £28 or 10m for £23.50... but I have decided to leave anyway, as I'll get BB and phone for £16.85 with BT/O2.

Hiya iam after changing my package i currently have phone and bb but want xl tv.

There is a virgin media thread where MSEers post what package they have and how much they pay for it. Why not have a look there and see what prices are being charged...

  • Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can help?

I have BB L, and TV L and pay £33.00 a month......my OH desperately wants a V+ box but was told by virgin we'd have to pay £150 to have it installed  and since we're on TV L we'd have to pay extra every month unless we switched to XL...I was just wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper way to get V+ box and service...would I be better off going to TV XL and paying the £150? How much would this work out a month, does anyone know? Or would I be better off going with Sky HD?

Any ideas would be grand, it confuses me totally

    TIA
i spoke with retentions complaining about bb price (grrrrr they are offering nothinggggggggg)
any way i did get agrement on the sweet 16 deal

    but grrr
"new customers are getting a £50 credit , surely you can give me the long standing never nissed a bill or paid late customer that credit too" - but there was no budging to be done!!!!
so we are at a stand still

i had similair prob when they were offerin new customers a free router - they were for not giving me 1 -so i cancelled and envoked the 30 days notice

    then

phoned back the neext day and said i give you 1 last chance and the guy could not br nicer and hey i got that free router

so tomorrow i will cancel etc and get that free v or £25 v box (hopefully)

I joined the Virgin VIP XL package a few months ago which was £85.00 "all in", but have noticed that my bills (without additional calls) are creeping-up to around the £88-£90.00 mark?

    Anyone else noticed that?

I am or I MUST get in touch with them and get them what for, but wanted to ask if anyone else has had the same on this package?

How did you manage to get them down to only £30 one off fee for the HD box matey?

    On their website its £75....

    Also says

"Offer also available to existing Virgin TV customers who keep their existing set-top box (at a cost of £5 a month)"

    and

"V+ subscription is included with TV Size: XL. There is a £5 a month charge for TV Size: M and TV Size: L. 7pound"

This is what really pi$$es me off about Virgin:

"£21 a month for 10meg BB, Medium TV, Medium Phone and a V+ HD Box"

When you take a £11 phone line

Oh yeah and you have to keep your existing box at £5 a month

Oh yeah and you have to pay a subscription of £7 a month for your HD box

Oh yeah and there's a £75 fee for your box to be installed (which a trained monkey could do).

    Takes the mickey.
  • (Also posted this on the VM Phones thread on the other board, but as this one is more general I'll put it here too incase anyone else can help)

    Hi :)

We've been with VM for around 19 months now.

Currently on : XL TV, XL BB, M Phone.

We were paying £37.00pm, but without notice we suddenly got charged £58 in October, according to the bill they added on a Partial Month charge on top of the monthly price, now it has been set at £47.50pm.

My OH phoned up and they said £37pm was a 12 month only deal (they didn't tell us that at the time we signed up to it) and that the Partial Month extra charge added on in October was because this deal ended on 27th Sept (although as far as I'm concerned, our Sept bill clearly states that we're paying for services up to 25th Oct at £37pm, so I think they've got a bit of a cheek to add extra on the following month in hindsight without any notice).

He spoke to two different people in retentions but both refused to offer any discount whatsoever, or offer any discount on getting a V+ box. So OH said he wanted to cancel, but next day chickened out and phoned them back to say he'd stay (I told him not to but what can you do ).

I've just checked on Sky's website, we can get the equivalent of XL TV, XL BB with free wireless router, and L Phone inc free caller display, plus a free Sky+ box using a refer a friend voucher, all for £42pm.

I think I'm going to phone up retentions again over the weekend and try for a better deal, although I don't think they'll speak to me as the account is in my boyfriend's name, can he authorise me to make changes to the account somehow?

Does anybody have a good offer for XL BB, XL TV, M Phone and V+ that I could try for?

    Thank you :)
