i was getting a 12 month contract, 100mb broadband, anytime phone, xl tv, for a remarkable 56 pounds odd.
they put my price up in line with the national increase, so i said keep the lot.
i now have 100 mb broadband, anytime phone for 38.00.
they really are unhappy if you send back your tv box, and will offer a freeview system for no charge, but you lose the ability to record and playback.
so i sent it back.
they ask you to drop it off at a "collection point " and make it difficult to have it collected (so not great for old people, or people with certain disabilities).
i have freesat installed for about 120,00, its hd and free, and has loads of great channels, best move i ever made getting rid.0 -
Had a Virgin package that had gone up out of contract to £47.99: M+ TV, L Phone, 30MB broadband. Got this down to £15.01 + line rental of £120 up front by threatening to leave after TalkTalk became available in the area. Had to cut the TV back to M, but increased phone to anytime calls.
From what I can tell this is a standard package that customer relations can offer if you get put through to them. The line rental saver is available on most of their products and brings the monthly cost down if you're willing to pay up front.0 -
Hi guys, just after a little info
Its Sunday and Virgin Media retentions department dont work on sundays, so looking for a quick answer here if possible..
Have been with vm for 4 years and the service is deteriorated drastically over the past few months, promises to fix this by the end of each month have come & gone & still i am left with hardly any internet connection.
I wish to change over to Talk Talk and they can install my new services in 2 weeks time. VM t&c reckon i need to give 30 days notice. Would it be ok if i went ahead with Talk Talk today, and phone up VM tomorrow to give 30 days, im assuming i will then only have a bill up to 10th July 2013. no extra charges even tho Talk Talk will take over 2 weeks before this date. I dont mind paying the extra 2 weeks, so long as it gets me away from VM
Thank you for any helpBest wins

I don't understand how some of you pay way more than I do!
I have 120MB Broadband and lowest phone package and pay only £29.99. But I've been with them for more than 4 years though.0 -
Our 18-month contract has just expired with Virgin. Admittedly I didn't phone to haggle or push for a good deal; rather to see what our options are. All they offered was to give us caller display (for which we pay £2.25 pcm) for free. All other reductions suggested would be as a result of reducing our package/service.
£2.25 pcm doesn't sound much compared to the discounts that some have been offered, especially as I'd have to sign a year's contract.
Any advice?0 -

Customer 1 - I like your service, but want to pay less, what can you do for me?
Supplier - How about x (insert token gesture, because they know that you are going nowhere).
Customer 2 - I like your service, but unfortunately due to these hard times I have to watch every penny, and one of your competitors can provide me with the same service for £y (Sky, BT, Plusnet, etc, are bound to have an offer for new customers). Is there anything you can do, or will you need to put me through to disconnections
Supplier - I think there might be something we can do sir...
15 minutes of your time researching prices will pay dividends, as it will give you the upper hand in the negotiations. Otherwise, you may just as well hand over your wallet and say "take what you want".0 -

I took your advice and told them I'd been checking out rival services/prices and that I could get a really good deal from them being a new customer ... but it was effectively a re-run of last time in that the only cost reductions they could offer is in line with any reductions in package that I'm willing to accept (apart from the £2.25 caller display). Even when I said that I'd invoke my 30 days notice she didn't offer me any inducements, but rather went ahead and made an appointment for disconnection and equipment collection!
Are they likely to phone me within the 30 days period to try to persuade me to stay with them?0 -
Hi
Just cancelled virgin, was paying £96 a month for xl tv xl phone and 60M broadband + sports, movies.
Phoned sky, will be getting all above, broadband 40M +HD for £65 for 6 months then 85 for rest of 1 year contract, not massive savings, but the main concern was virgins apparent lack of interest in losing £1200 a year
There did not seem to be any interest in keeping me,did not offer anything, maybe they simply cant compete, but you would have expected them to at least try.
Any way done now and at least i`ll be away from the superhub and its useless wireless.
Had a text message yesterday saying they would be picking up my boxs etc on 20/06/2013,not quite sure how they got to that date as my services dont terminate untill 16/07/2013,really do hope this is not going to become difficult.0 -

So if anyone wants to negotiate with Virgin. seems like you'll have more luck on a 30M package rather than on a 60M.0 -
My contract is up for renewal again and this is probably the first year I feel completely underwhelmed by thier offers even after 30 mins of negotiation. The best deal I have got so far is
TV L, BB L (30), Phone XL for £50 Per Month
TV M+, BB L (30), Phone XL for £43 Per Month
I was also offered the advance line rental deal which would knock off the equivilent of £5 per month. The only reason I have XL phone is because you cant get free overriders and most calls are in the day. Anyone managed to get a better deal?0
