Anyone recently upgraded to VM superhub? Do you have any problems at all? I read alot of reviews complaining of wireless problems... I am getting the superhub this week and am quite worried about the service I will get.
It seems to depend very much on your house (thickness of walls, location of router, etc.) as to what kind of service you'll get from the hub. Ours has proved to be absolutely hopeless. I've had to attach our old wireless router to it and knock it into modem only mode to get a signal around the house.
When I complained about the lousy signal an engineer was sent around to the house to relocate it. He told me that there was no point in relocating it as they never give out a really strong signal; he'd had to buy a signal extender to get one to work in his own home.
Ultimately, it's a flawed piece of kit but you might get away with it depending on your circumstances. If you've got relatively thin walls and the hub is well located in your home you'll probably be OK. If not, then be ready to connect an ethernet cable if you want to achieve anything like the speed you're paying for. I know a few people who are happy with theirs and equal numbers who wish they'd never bothered upgrading.
On the plus side, there are clearly known issues with the superhub which could make those renegotiation of contract calls more fruitful...0 -
Hi
I ditched the superhub but not because of the wifi range. The superhub was placed in our single story extension and teh front bedroom (on opposite side of house) got an adequate signal.
My problem wa the double NAT issue for the kids playing on their xbox. I spoke with their technical dept and they were aware of the issue and I had to stop using superhib UNTIL "bridge mode" was available.
I now use Superhub in Bridge mode with a Linksys E2400 cable modem.
Couple of months ago got TPLINK for Skybox, NAS drive, and to give ethernet access in that front bedroom and much quicker using exlectrical cable for internet than wifi. Got the tplink one upstais that also send out another wifi signal and brilliat coverage all round the house.
So I suggest that you use superhub and then also add TPLINK type extenders around your house. The TPLINK one that is also a wifi extender is slightly bigger than the standard ones but allows ethernet to it as well. You will get a faster speed using tplink ethernet that wifi from downstairs.
This is the one that I got:
300Mbps AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit
Then got two of these: (at the time TPLINK sent me one free as they had an offer on)
200Mbps AV200 Single Mini Powerline Ethernet Adapter TL-PA211
Hope that helps0 -

you have to pay 12 months in advance, over the phone - anyone is eligible.0

But is that including the effective monthly cost of line rental? As in is it £17.10 per month + your line rental in advance or is that £17.10 the effective monthly line rental?
I just spoke to CS and they offered me £1.50/month off my bill for BB and Phone. That has to be literally the worst retention offer I have ever heard of.0 -
I was out of contract and arranged a cancellation as I had an offer from sky. Retentions did their bit and I accepted an offer including "upgrading" to the superhub. My WiFi connection is awful and I have to reboot every day to use my laptop and 2 smartphones we have in the house. Would any of this likely be accepted as a means to cancel? Tech support just get me to reboot superhub anytime I phone.
My bill is 20 quid a month more now than 2 months ago due to loyalty discount being finished and ideally I'd go with internet and tv with sky.0 -

Remember though there is a big difference between when you phone in and get through to customer services, as they won't or can't offer the same discounts that the retentions department (outbound calls only - you can't phone in) can facilitate.0 -
If I call and say "I'm leaving, Sky have a better deal, do I need to give you notice then go set things up with Sky?" Will I then be transferred to retentions or will that CS agent still haggle with me instead and then let me leave with their original terrible offer?0

Insist you want to leave and give notice, the cs agent will make an attempt to retain your custom by giving you some sort of offer but decline it.
You won't be transferred to retentions but they will phone you during the notice period and you will be able to negotiate a better deal as that department has more authority to offer higher discounting.
They do not want to lose customers and if necessary you can always withdraw your initial cancellation notice close to the termination date.
It's a tedious game to have to play but they seem to prefer it to advertising realistic and competitive prices upfront. I suppose they find it works out overall to have some of their customers (maybe most) overpaying as they don't want to be bothered with haggling.0
