Virgin Media Retention thread

Trying to get this cost down, but the best virgin can do is £21.50 (that's using direct debit) for eve and weekend calls, and 20 meg internet. Said Tesco could do it for £16.25 but as a staff member I get it for £13. I am aware however I would get between 8 and 13 meg speed and an allowance of 100 gig.
I stream a lot and download lots, so really not an option for me. Had a look on various sites, and I do think virgin are still the better choice, however, I wanted to check if I could get it cheaper. Highly unlikely I know. My services are due to disconnect with virgin next month (already handed 30 day notice in).
Hoping that I'm not disconnected and left without Internet, the oh would kill me.....
Thanks in advance.
Cancelled mine 3 weeks ago and still haven't had a call back, lol.0 -

After lurking for a while, thought I'd register to post my experience
I was paying £30/mo for 30/3 internet alone from Virgin, after some back and forth with retentions I'm now on the 100 meg broadband for £26.50/mo. No activation fee0 -
Anyone recently upgraded to VM superhub? Do you have any problems at all? I read alot of reviews complaining of wireless problems... I am getting the superhub this week and am quite worried about the service I will get.
I have had nothing but problems with it, in the end i had to put it into modem mode and buy a router as the superhub could not do the job it was designed to. evan now it will reset by itself sometimes.
I had phoned VM, had a replacment and was still the same. I wish i could just have standard modem + router with 60MB0 -

That is an amazing deal! I tried getting that with Sky but to no avail. How did you manage to get that? What did you say?0 -
I'm about to move, been with Virgin for 8 years now on national, my new place has cable so will go for that, only really want BB but would take TV too if I could get a good deal, I would want the essential TV package tho, so when I cancel, if I get asked to carry my service over to the new place, what price should I aim for for 30mb BB and TV? it's £38.90 but I think that is way too much, any chance of getting it much lower.0

Been with Virgin fibre optic for many many years, but moved to a house 2 years ago that wasn't cabled. Decided on staying loyal to Virgin in the hope that another Virgin user in the road might persuade them to cable it up. Went for their national service with XL broadband and unlimited phone, plus caller ID - total monthly cost ~£35.
Having spoken to the street cabling team and 2 Virgin engineers that have been at my parents house lately, I have concluded that they're not going to do our road (one of the engineers actually said there wasn't a chance in hell as Virgin have no idea what they're doing when it comes to cabling streets, and simply won't do anymore until they've caught up with themselves). Decided I should start looking at switching to someone cheaper as £35 a month is quite dear for what we have.
Phoned Virgin and explained I could get a slightly lesser package but this time with TV if I switched to Sky, and they immediately gave me 2 things-
1) £10 off my monthly bill.
2) An appointment in the next 7 days that an engineer would come round to assess our house personally for possible cabling.
I'll give them a week to see if this engineer materialises, then either way I'll phone Sky and see if I can get a better quote than their standard online packages. We're not fussed about the TV as we have FreeSat which is enough for us, but I do miss some of the basic Sky channels such as Sky1 etc. Sadly we no longer have an aerial so FreeView is out, and I don't want to pay to have one put back up just for the sake of a few channels.0 -
I have Virgin 30mb fibre on its own, £30.
We don't need a phone line.
They have offered it for £25 on its own for 60mb, same cost as 30mb.
Can i get better?0 -
i would like to know too0
