What is loyalty discount how do you get that?
  • Think you get it if you have been a customer in the past and say you are going to leave-Thats what I did, but I think it could come down even more!
  • We have been with VM for over 12 months, initially on the £10 per month which has now gone up to £17. I rang today to ask about adding the TV L package. On the website it is shown as being £25 but I was quoted £26, when I queriied this I was told that the £25 was for new customers only, it is £26 for existing customers! I am tied into BT at the moment because I took out a deal for 12 months with them so I only want BB and the TV L. I said I would have that but am now having second thoughts, do you think I could get a better deal by phoning to cancel or by going to Sky instead?
  • Virgin Media New Contract
I've just renewed my Virgin Contract today for another 12 months.

My 12 month Phone (M) & 2MB BB (M) at £15.50 per month & £1 ebill discount expired this week.

I was told this would revert to the 2 for £20 deal automatically.
After threatening politely to go back to BT they offered me Phone Talk Unlimited (XL) & 2MB BB (M) for only £19.49 per month instead of £36.95 per month.

Thought this was a good deal as can now make free landline calls 24/7 instead of just weekends for less than if I'd just stayed on the 2 for £20 deal.

With the free BB upgrade from 2MB to 4MB next year, I think there must be a catch with this deal! I Hope not! She did tell me it was a loyalty discount...

I have VM 2mb BB only.

Following my own advice earlier in this thread, I phoned retentions with the intention of leaving for O2.

I was told that I'd need a BT line if I left, I replied that I already had one and had no intention of moving to VM for phone as my options would be restricted if I wanted to move.

After a bit of banter and some waits "to speak to someone else" I was offered £15.50 for BB+phone.

I politely declined saying that O2 was highly rated and I had an O2 mobile (white lie) so would only pay £7.50 for a predicted 3.5mb speed.

Another wait, and I was offered £7.50( pre e-billing) on a new 6mths contract with the option to extend the deal for a further 6mths non-contract.

All was confirmed 10 mins later in an email.
    Move along, nothing to see.

As I'm trying to consolidate my finances, I phoned them last week with the (genuine) intention of cancelling my land-line phone and TV package and just keep my 2mb BB. The lad said he could reduce my current billing from £35 a month (Which I've been paying for near on 2 years) for the 3 packages to £21 if I wanted to keep them rather than cancel, which I did.

I'm signed in for another 12 months though, but to be honest, I don't see me moving to a non VM area as my entire city has it.

you did really well. I have been on the £10 deal too for the past one and a half years, but found that my bill had increased by £1 for the past 2 months to £11, que ...shock! horror! I phoned them up and they reduced it to £10 on condition I took e-billing. I think I may have to give them another call to see if I can get them to match O2:D

Wonder if anyone can help. I feel I'm paying too much but am I overreacting?

I'm with VM (been with them since they took over Telewest) and pay:

Telephone Line Rental: £11.00 (fair enough)
    TV Size L: £11.50
    Broadband Size L: £25.00

It just seems a lot lumped together especially with a basic TV package. I've read about phoning through to cancellations but what if they say 'fair enough we'll cancel it! I just want a better deal. Any thoughts would be grateful.

That's the package I have and I pay £34 a month for it and have done for over a year and a half. Here's the breakdown on my bill:

    Telephone Line Rental £11.00
    Loyalty Pack B B / Phone / T V A £-13.50
    Fully Itemised Billing £1.00
    Free Voicemail £0.00
    T V Size: L £11.50
    Broadband L £25.00

I would actually like to add TV XL to the package, but don't want to rock the boat incase I lose my loyalty discount. I'm sure there are others with Phone M, TV XL and BB L, who only pay a couple of pounds more per month than I'm paying.

Have a look on the Sky website and seen what a roughly equivalent package would cost you, then phone up retentions and tell them you're thinking about leaving and see what they offer you. If they don't offer you anything and call your bluff, call theirs and tell them you're giving them 30 days notice that you're leaving. You can always call up later and change your mind.
  • I have just got off the phone to Virgin Media. I have been with them a number of years and usually always manage to get a good deal but this time they say they can not reduce my bill further.

My 12 month contract has just expired and my bill has gone up £12.

    I currently have:

    Phone £11
    TV XL £22
    V+ £10
    Addit Box £10
    BB M £18

and i get the following discounts:

    £9.50 for having a bundle
£10 for the V+ and additional Box
    £1 for the ebill

So in total it now costs £55.50, is this a good deal - do you think if I phone them again I can get this down anymore. The guy I spoke to seemed to be very helpful but just said there were no discounts he could add to my account?
