    Hi, wishing you all a Happy New Year!!!!!! It's gotta be better than the last!!! lol :P
    Ok, so... had no call back from retentions and the cut off is on Friday (disconnection). I'm now leaving this to the Missus to try her luck at... again, this is what we currently have...
    10 meg BB
    XL TV with V+ and bog standard box in another room
    Sky Movies and Sports
    Large Phone
    we pay about £86 p.m for this and we certainly don't get our monies worth as the BB is dead most of the time and the V+ box has hissy fits...
    Anyways, if anyone can help with a breakdown of what she has to do to get this sorted out then please do! lol
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi, the missus just called them and was told that we had received a call from Retentions and that they will not offer us a new deal... she told us the best the would do is give us 20meg BB and charge an extra £10 p.m taking it to over £90+...
    I have no idea what we are doing wrong.. even quoted the VIP 50 deal and said new customers are getting a better deal, was told to quit and come back in 6 months if we want that deal!
    Really need some help here!!!! _pale_

    Cancel the disconnection - wait a few weeks and say that you want to look at your options again.

    In a few weeks time call them to see what deal they will do on VIP 50 - when its not good enough go through with the disconnection again - the VIP 50 discussion on the account might hopefully trigger another call from retentions...

    ok, called V.M to postpone the disconnection and was put through to disconnections... was offered the Tivo box and the v+ moved upstairs but only 30meg BB... that would also keep our price about the same as we pay now... upon quoting that many others were receiving the VIP 50 deal for £86 i was put on hold and told it would cost me over £100... she could not figure out how it was only £86 and asked if that was minus the phone line fee? anyways, she said that they offer a deal where if another customer is getting a better deal and you have thier number or house number and postcode so they can check then they would match it... so hoping one of the lucky people out there can help me out! lol

    Recalled V.M spoke to a nice girl who was the "team leader", i asked her about the email i was supposed to have been sent with the details of the offer we were made... she said they have no way of emailing customers so was baffled as to why one of HER team said that - lol, was put on hold for a few minutes while she spoke to the girl who took my email address... anyways, i basically told her of all the stuff we wanted or was offered earlier... earlier it came to less than what we pay currently but with the Team Leader it came to over £20+ more... told her i wasn't happy with this and again quoted the VIP 50 deal that others were getting from retentions... she again requested the tele numbers of those people to match the deal as "her team" cannot do those deals... as i don't have all your details - lol, i explained that for security reasons they did not want me to give out your details... but went on to say that you all received this offer via a Telephone call received from something called "V.M Retentions?"... with this she said they have offers that she cannot make, so i just basically said - well i'm not ever going to pay more for less when they are getting the deal we want and regardless of that we can go to Tesco Broadband, ditch the TV and save something silly like £60 p.m! she said without me prompting that she would take note of my request and set my cancellation for 30 days... and that we'd receive a call from "retentions"... so, with that, i'm hoping we get this deal sorted!
    If so then i will try and make a simple guide on what to do and add my details to save all this hassle - that way you just quote my offer with my postcode and you should get it matched :T
    Will keep you all posted! :beer:

  • What do you think of this deal? Only additional things would be 100mb or Moves added, higher phone (not to worried) and not interested in sports.

    Went though to Retentions and got following deal, spoke 6 times to them now!

    Been customer for nearly 10 years:

    Package (New)
    ============

    TV: XL (Top without added sports/movies)
    BB: XXL: 50mb
    Phone: Medium (means lowest... should not be called medium then)
    Extra room: V+ moved to other room (existing box)
    Tivo: 1Tb (£50 + £3 monthly fee)

    Costs:
    Monthly Total: £62.40 During promotion period (2 years!)
    Monthly Total: £66.40 After promotion period (2 years!)

    One off: £50 for Tivo (1Tb)

    Current discounts: £4 loyalty discount

    Previous Package
    =============
    BB: 50mb
    Phone: L
    Tv: XXL

    Cost: £63.96 with same discounts.

    Other quotes
    ============
    VIP top package: £100
    BB from 50mb to 100mb: £10 extra a month (previous times was £14)

    Speed Upgrade?
    ==============
    See www dot hardwareheaven dot com or google text below:
    Article: Virgin Media to give customers free broadband speed upgrade

    Was tempted to got for 100mb BB, but looks like we will be moved to it according to the web site mentioned. Obviously nothing in stone and leaves question what happens to 100mb customers? Also believe they could of released 200mb some time part to most parts, but had no competition...

    £62.40 is a not bad - but I've just had a 1TB tivo fitted for free after going through the disconnect process... (I pay £86.46 for the same as you except full phone, full sky sports and movies and HD pack on on top - so all told that would end up a little cheaper than £62.40)
