So currently have
Xl tv
L bb
M pl. plus line rental
Pay about 55 quid. My partner who's name its under also has a separate mobile contract.
Now f1 is important to me so wondering whether you think I can drive the costs of the current package down by 15-20 quid as we are out of contract. Then I would add the sky sports package for 22.50?? Also I want TiVo0 -
Ok. I'm on the VIP 50 pancake and my bill is 104 pounds per month
My contract for phone and broadband is less than 30 days away and my TV doesn't expire until September because I upgraded to a TiVo box
Phoned today and cancelled my phone and broadband and I thought I maybe able to extract a retention deal. Alas not, because of this VIP 50 deal there were no offers forthcoming.
So I got him to remove my movies and sports and also to disconnect my phone and broadband....so I will be paying just 40 a month.
Does anybody think they will phone and offer me a deal ?

Hi Darren,
Well for well over a month now i have been trying to get a renewal deal from V.M and have ended up with a headache... Tonight was the 1st real call back that we have received from V.M and it wasn't even a retentions deal. At best they will only offer what is stated for new customers. I think they are pretty confident that the new double the internet deal (double the BB) will entice a massive ammount of fresh blood for them and those with current BB V.M services know that if they leave they will not get a better BB service as you will get quoted the speeds of other providers directly by V.M when you call to cancel. Only way i can think of to get a retentions deal is to call sky and tell them you want to move to them - they will contact V.M to request your Telephone number be transferred and when V.M get that call they will call you and offer you a better deal to stay now though we have definately had enough of V.M - the missus did this years back as we were going to leave.
Overall though check - http://www.cable.co.uk/compare/broadband-tv-phone/ as you may get a better deal and service there.

Hi,
I currently have:
2 x V+ HD boxes
XL TV
XL BB
Medium phone
I signed up through retentions last year with half price line rental for 12 months.
Starting with effect from my current bill that has now ended, meaning I am now paying £52.35 per month for this.
From reading other threads on here that seems a bit expensive what do folk think?0 -
arielcohen wrote: »Got offered
Tv -m
Broadband 10mb
Telehpone XL
for ~£18 a month
to get this price they put a £8 rolling credit on the account that lasted 18 months and they put 12 months half price line rental
They told me to phone back after 12 months to get the half price line rental back, did that and now their saying they dont have that offer and cant do it. I am out of contract with my tv and broadband and have 6 months left on my line rental that will cost £22 to cancel. If they don't want to play ball should I cancel everything pay the £22 and see if they call my house within the month?
Just wish they would stick to what they say when they sign you up for the contract!
Im glad im not the only one! Im currently going through their complaints as my bill has gone from £43 to £55.

Call them back and cancel everything.
There is a 30 day notice period where you can call back at any time.
They should call you back a few days in and offer the VIP50 bundle that outbound retentions can do - £86.43 per month for VIP 50 (Im on it now...)0 -
Don't think I can cancel the TV as I'm contract until September with the TiVo box...
So I cancelled the phone and tv and reduced the tv down to a min package
Maybe they will call back..

I have used Virgin.net for many years as my ISP. Last August, I signed up for a year for Virgin Broadband and Telephone. Price quoted was Broadband £19.99 and telephone Line rental £13.90 + £3.50 for unlimited calls.
As an incentive, the nice young lady at VirginMedia gave me a monthly rebate of £10 for the first year of the contract on the condition that I had to apply for the rebate every 3 months.
I have had 6 months rebates and phoned up this month to apply for my next 3 months of rebates only to be informed that Virgin HQ had decided that all such rebates were to be stopped and I would no longer get my £10 rebates.
On asking to speak with a supervisor, I was told that it would cost me £128 to cancel the contract and there would be another £24 disconnection fee.
He informed me that my local BT exchange was not fitted with Virgin equipment and BT Wholesale Broad Connect was increasing WBC line charges for users of non-BT services hence the stopping of the £10 rebate.
I then got a load of techs peak about my old IP Stream system in the local BT exchange and that once the exchange was upgraded to ADSL +2 Virgin "might" be able to reduce my charges next year.
I argued that Virgin were not upholding there part of the contact and I was very unhappy that I was not getting my promised rebate and was getting charged if I wanted to cancel my services with Virgin.
I contacted Ofcom today and they said that Virgin failing to give me my agreed rebate and were mis-selling under condition 24. Also that I should contact Virgin by letter or phone and if matter remained unresolved to my satisfaction, I should contact the CISIS Ombudsman.
On phoning Virgin again and quoting OFCOM's advice to me they put me on to another supervisor. This second supervisor said he would have to speak with his manager. He phoned back an hour later and said no way could virgin honour the contract to give me the rest of my £10 rebates but that I could cancel the contract without any cancellation fees.
Having had no satisfaction from Virgin, I have contacted various ISP's offering very good prices for broadband and anytime telephone calls online.
However, as soon as I give them my post code and phone number, the prices quoted online are not available to me as BT charge the ISP's at least £10 extra for using my rural BT exchange which provides the ADSL line to my house.
The other ISP's are charging the same price as Virgin Media so it is not worth my while changing e mail address, router, etc.

Ok had a call back from virgin media on 08000 522160
Clearly this person had no idea what they were talking about.
I said I was moving to sky as I wanted the F1 in HD....so she offered me 70 credit to offset the 7.50 virgin charge for HD channels. I asked her to confirm that VM would be getting F1 in HD....yes she said....then she double checked and then she said VM only getting it in SD.
After a little more chat she realised that she could not offer me anything
So at the moment my disconnection stands
