I'm currently paying an outragious £37.50 for Virgin's XL(20) package which is going up by £1.50 in April. Just the broadband! I know this far more than most other packages but I'm not sure how to go about getting this reduced. Any adice and help would be very apreciated. Unfortunately my contract doesn't run out until Oct. My fault for signing a contract in the first place I know.0

Just phoned VM customer services, told them i wanted to cancel.
I need to cut down outgoings after IB-ESA benefits cut.
I have M Tv, 20mb BB, Line rental and M calls for £35.99 Month. And have been with them, this time, for over 6 years.
Didn't seam interested in offering a better deal, just offered me standard packages. The phone line has never been used (in fact it hasn't worked for years). So booked in for disconnection in March.
Sort of hope they will call me back, as getting a basic TV service will be difficult as I don't have a TV aerial.

Hi Matt, well from my experience they won't call you back - this may simply be down to the fact they are bringing out the new BB packages and don't need us time served customers any more... from reading the old posts though lots of people had luck with the outbound retentions calling them back after they called to cancel - hopefully they will call you but we never got a call... just kept getting told by V.M that in April the BB speeds get doubled and that along with the fact other providers are crap should be enough for us to stay and that our Daughter would make our lives hell if we disconnected etc etc.
Your best bet is to check out other providers deals and tell V.M you are leaving them for another company, see if they give you a deal that you want but if not arrange the cancellation, you should get a call back within 3 days (so i've been told... lol). If you deceide not to leave etc you can always cancel or simply move...
Try - http://www.cable.co.uk/
that will give you all the deals and what services you can get at your address - including BB speeds...

Don't be to sure they won't call you back, I recently cancelled (last Friday) low and behold Monday morning VM phoned me back, must admit I didn't expect it so soon, I was out so requested to call me back after 6.00pm, later that evening VM called back
got offered a deal, not happy with the deal offered, have since cancelled the latest deal, hoping for another call back
if I don't get a call back, I'll just try and blag another deal, I've done this before and it worked0 -
I must admit...I am VERY irritated by the 5% increase I have just been informed of today - this is a direct contradiction of the terms laid out in my retention deal.
I will be on the phone on Monday to find out what terms I am bound by on this.0 -
Just called cust services - £10 off my monthly bills no quibbles!
Told thm i could no longer afford the package and that sky offering good deals for new customers0 -

What 5% increase please?

Check your email, EVERYONE is receiving the 'annual' price increase, affects a number of internet, TV and telephone products, which means you will be impacted one way or another.
That 5% is actually 6.5% when you factor in the bundle discount I get - if you don't have email setup then you will get it via letter shortly apparently.
I am VERY fed up with them over this - especially as no one can give me a breakdown of the amount - applies from 1st of April 2012 btw.0 -

I haven't had an email, but was informed today (when calling up retentions to negotiate a deal) that all bills were going up by £2.50. No idea how true that is (in terms of the amount).
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Mine was an increase of £4.50 a month - but they can only account for £4.25 so far...
£2 increase on the XL TV pack, £2.25 on 50mb Broadband (might have them the wrong way round but the amounts are right)
The extra 25pm no idea - but its £54 a year extra on the VIP package...I'm awaiting the letter as Virgin Media Marketing seem to be sending more crap emails like the 100mb upgrade and the fee rises without any supporting documents to explain...probably too busy tickling each other...0
